Today my grandson was visiting, so I told him we were going to put some pink stuff into the TT Water Lines. When I opened the bedroom door I saw that George Washington Mouse had slept in/on my bed. He/she left his/her calling card. Also, on the carpet and on the sink top.
After pumping in the anti-freeze I then installed my 5 gallon bucket/water trap in the hallway.
This bucket has a stiff wire running between two sides of the bucket. On the wire is a soda can that is covered with peanut butter. I then hooked a wooden ramp to the side of the bucket so a visiting mouse can run up the ramp and jump onto the soda can which will then turn and drop said mouse into the water.
Tomorrow I will set out about 12 snap traps. Some will go along walls and some will be set up in groups of three like a pin wheel. If they set one off and jump back and they land on another it will get the mouse.
I did not clean up the droppings and I did not make any effort to find and close the hole that they have made to come in. I wanted business as usally for them so they will feel free to run around.
My grandson is really into the mouse trapping project. He said when we catch some, we can feed them to his Snake.

FireChik;
Of course I provided tiny life preservers. I taped them to the inside of the bucket in plain site, 10 inches above the water line.

That sounds like a lot of work that could be eliminated by plugging any entry holes and using a box of decon. Great description of you murder plot.

bldrbuck;
When I brought the TT home I crawled around underneath and sealed each and every hole I could find. I do believe that they chewed a new hole. So, tomorrow I will be back under looking for the new hole.
Also, I know the value of Decon. I use it in the garage and in my wood piles. However, the Higher Command instructed me not to use it in the TT.
She is worried that a dead mouse will be in an area we can not get to and then stink up the unit.

This is GREAT! I am still laughing at the description of your trap! Please keep us posted on your outcome! It sounds ingenious!

That style trap works good. I have caught 12 in about a month. Should have my wife's coat ready by Christmas 2010. The neck snap traps ruin the pelts.

I use to have a wooden garage door that over the years became very heavy from water paint and who knows what, anyway I went out one morning and there laid a mouse pinned under the door mashed flat, that was one unlucky mouse.

If you can place the snap traps on something. I have found that as they die they tend to loose bodily fluids. Can make quite a mess on the carpet.
