I'm have trouble with my furnace. When I would turn it on it would only blow warm air for a few minutes & shut off. Then suddenly of course the night we actually need it the damn thing won't lite at all. Now it tries to lite but only blows cold. I wasn't worried about it to much at first because we were heading to FL. Well on the way back we got stuck driving in Ida & had to stop. That is of course when it decided not to work at all & we toughed out the night. Any ideas on what it could be? I'll be calling the dealer but I just want to know if there is an easy solution.
Thanks

Some have had mud daubbers building mud nest in heater chamber. That's a coat hanger knock outif you can see it. Or could be a dirty igniter. It runs off 12 volt, and needs a good charge to start.

Check the water in your batteries,low water = low charge = no heat when it's cold out.

I checked the water in the battery & it is about 1" maybe slightly more from the top. How much should there be in it? Do I use tap water or distilled water to fill it?

You will want to use distilled water in your battery. Also, a turkey baster is a good tool to put in the water with out making a wet mess. Plus, you can measure the amount of water you are putting so you don't over fill the battery.

Are you hooked up to 110V shore power when it doesn't work?
If you're just using 12V battery for power, it sounds like bad battery---period!
Furnace won't light unless you have about 12V---that's 12 measured volts---not just "a 12V battery"---it needs to be fully charged and stay above about 12V to keep the electronic gas valve open.
Once fully charged, you need to continue to have a "good charge" to keep it running.....the battery dies pretty fast when the furnace runs....then it's likely you don't have enough battery to keep the electronic gas valve open, and it shuts down.
Suggest you look at your furnace operator/troubleshooting manual.

sjones6335;
You want the plates covered. Fill until the water is just about up to the bottom of the fill hole. This is usually about 3/4 to 1 inch from top. You don't want to fill clear to the top of the fill hole.

Sounds a lot like a circuit board failure. Pretty common. If that is the problem the Dinosaur aftermarket boards are a good choice.

I had a trailer that had a similar problem and I found the answer by accident. It would fire up the first time and would warm the trailer to a nice toasty temp. But when it came time to refire and warm the trailer again after it cooled it would not fire and would blow cold air. In my researching the problem I was looking into the air intake to see if I could see anything and when my wife turn in on it fired. I repeated this over with my hand over the intake and it would fire every time. I relayed this info to my tech and they adjusted the oxygen intake and no more problem
