Just close the tank valves. Come spring, when you open the tank valve, you may need to 'purge' the system by lighting a burner on the stove as usual, but it may just take a little longer to light the first time.

Turn them off.

I have them filled so I don't have to think about it in the Spring.

(They won't freeze.)

Take them off and send them to me so i can heat up my igloo during the winter!

Accually I would take them off and hook them up to your BBQ. Lots of cooken on 60lbs of propane in blowing cold -40 weather!!!

I just get mine filled, then turn them off. That way if power goes out in stick house, or whatever, we have a backup.

In SOME areas it's also a good idea to remove the bottles (if that's what we're talking about here" because they are frequently stolen by drug dealers to be used in cooking Meth. Good luck / Skip

I like to turn it off but occasionally turn it on for heat when I have to go out to the storage lot to "perform maintenance". I take the dog out for a couple hours of peace and quiet while we watch a movie and eat popcorn.
