Rating reasons / About the campground: sparse camp store but did have shop n' rob right across the road, nice hiking trails next to falls downstream of the dam, pretty lake (horsepower restricted to 10 HP), upper campground is now open (has 6-7 yurts on lakefront campsites – in this part of the cg there are only about 17 sites and they are spaced a little further apart than in river campground), nice well maintained moderate hiking trails (the trails beside the falls are pretty)
Campsite number: 109
About our trip: We went down after work on Wednesday and got a nice site. The rest of the crew came down Thursday morning (I was worried that they wouldn’t be able to get 3 sites next to each other but it worked out perfectly). Did a lot of overeating. Went on a few nice hikes. The weather was very nice. Mild even if it was a little breezy most of the time. Sunday was gorgeous (of course!) Took out Kim’s uncle’s pontoon boat for a ride on Saturday. All in all, had a good time.

Strange...but I seem to find these strange boxes at campgrounds a lot (of course I haven't found one that works):

And finally...ugly bugs need love too! (wouldn't even have seen them if it wasn't for the blaze!):
Oh...Flat Stanley...Ashley's friend Anthony, who lives in Maine, sent us Flat Stanley. It was a project for his class to send out "Flat Stanley's" to other locales and see what he had to do there, how he had to dress, etc. We actually had a good time figuring out what he should be doing.
My last trip to HFSP was 35 years ago. Caught a lot of fish and got a bad sunburn. Looks like the facilities have greatly improved. I like your Northern Lite. Great photos of the family.
I always enjoy your family-oriented Trip Reports and "Camp Ground Ratings"
I'll post it later into TR (I'm in a hurry to do numerous errands this morning; i.e. the weather is fabulous here, so making hay whilst the sun shines)...
Great trip report, several Deja vu photos
Max looks like he has taken to camping rather well.
I hope Max has a dog house big enough to share, you know, after Kim sees the photos you chose to post
Well that's not a fair entry in the trip report of the year... cute kids and a cute dog! Foul! Unfair!
Seriously, you are indeed blessed with a great family and great memory making times. Thanks for sharing your Thanksgiving with us. You've lots to be thankful for.

You know if you ever get one you've a place to stay in the south. Of course, you've a place to stay either way.

We didn't see a single kitten so I would have to say "No". In fact, in the 4 times I've been there I've never seen any cats roaming around.
