I did that with an older Samsung LCD tv in my Travel trailer before I upgraded to my MH. Performed same mod on a newer sharp LCD we have in the bedroom of the MH. Works great.

Please note that TVMAN44 is correct. Get the polarity right or you could blow the TV. I missed it, and blew the backlight and had to get it fixed.

Just a follow up on operating my vizio LCD 23 inch TV on the coach's 12vdc system. I purchased the following parts from Radio Shack; Autoadapter PN# 273-344 Tip "M", and Enercell 12vdc-5A Car Power Adapter PN# 270-048. Make sure center pin on tip is + 12v. Tried it in the 12v cigarette lighter plug in the truck. No antenna connected, but it powered up fine.
