I am going to look at a Mountaineer 345 DBQ and a Copper Canyon 324FWBHS tomorrow night. The Mountaineer is higher on Keystone's hierarchy list than the Copper Canyon. The flooplans are similar but different and the final decision may come down to the wife's preferences.
Can anyone give me some details on what components might be different and what items i should pay close attention to while comparing them from a construction standpoint?
Secondly would (in your opinion) the differences in the Mountaineer be worth $3k more than the CC?
A Sandpiper 355QBQ is still in the running also, but i havent located one close enough to put my hands on, I could order from RV Wholesalers but i wont do that unless i can touch one first. There is also still a Cedar Creek as a long shot.

Oh you sound just as I did last fall.I looked at all the ones on your list.All of them and more.I ended up with the Mountaineer 345dbq.I looked at the other 2 you listed and they just didn't stack up,I did love the backbedroom in the Sandpiper but the quality just didn't compare to the Montana.The Copper Canyon just didn't have the options that realy come into play.I didn't think I needed Montana's Hickory edition but am very,very glad I did....The solid surface counters in the kitchen,not as big of deal,the real wood in the cabinets and drawers are a big deal.How many times have you just nicked them with something and you can't cover that up.The easy remote system I didn't think that was a big deal until 1st time I used it.I love it.You can sit in the driver seat and basicaly set up the entire camper from you seat or picknic table is the best place to do it...They just seemed to be on the spot on what I wanted and needed.The holding tanks,fresh,grey and black seemed to be much larger than the Sandpiper if I remember.When it all boiled down to it,not to mention that with my trade on the Mountaineer was a way better deal than the Sandpiper,I got the Mountaineer for less money than the Sandpiper,which I still don't understand how,but never the less.My opinion is that the Mountaineer is a better built unit than both the Copper Canyon and by far the Sandpiper..

Both have the same construction and identical features...the Copper Canyon has the powered awning as an option and the Mountaineer has it standard.
The Mountaineer is a bit lighter at 13,989 GVWR vs the CC 14,060 GVWR. And the Mountaineer has 17 gallons more fresh water, 61 gallons more gray water capacity, and 3 gallons LESS black tank capacity!
The options list is virtually the same.
Whether the Mountaineer is worth $3000.00 more 71 lbs lighter, and for bigger holding tank size, (which would come in handy only when dry camping), and a power awning (around $700.00) standard is for you to decide!
I think Wildwood32 said it very well. When you go look at them, I think you'll know the difference and will see where the money went. A salesperson pointed out many of the differences to my wife and me. Things like a better enclosed bottom for extended season use, the glossy sides vs rough fiberglass look, the overall quality look on the inside of the Mountaineer . . . look at both and I think you will sell yourself on the Mountaineer.
BTW, I got a factory price list, then made an offer of about 30% off list. Actually, I think it was 31%. Accepted immediately. This was for a factory order, not one on the lot. Took about 8 weeks; they told me to expect 12.
We looked at a Mountaineer and liked it. We also saw a Copper Canyon with a king-size bed and a kitchen that the important person in this family liked. She also liked the color of the wood better in the Copper Canyon, so guess which one "we" got. I think you better check with your wife, because if she doesn't like it, you're going to be hearing about it forever
