Does anyone have a recommendation for an easy access camp gound off I81? We'll be traveling back home to NY from TN and need a overnight recommendation. Many thanks!

Take a look at Candy Hill

Sounds like this fits the bill. I have never been there but have read mixed reviews over the years about the place on this forum.

I stayed at Candy Hill once. Nice folks there. The back in site they put us in was long enough that I didn't have to un-hitch.

This small campground might just fit your needs. About 1.5 miles off I-81, all-most all pull thru sites, long so you don't have to unhitch.

West Virginia exit 23.

In case anybody else finds this on search, I just stayed at Wolf Gap CG outside Columbia Furnace last night. It's ~ 12 miles off I-81. It's free, but your rig is too big... anything over 21'-22' _total_ is. Good for class B's and truck campers, but that's about all. The last ~3 miles is a narrow, steep. but well-paved road. 9 spaces, with one & only one parking spot each, NFS. No facilities except a pit toilet and hand pump.... not even trash cans. And there's no way top check on site availability except to go there.

Wytheville is too far south. We've also stayed at Candy Hill. It's on the bypass, but takes you right back to I-81. New WM and restaurants are also really close by!

We stay at the Natural Bridges KOA. A little hilly, but not a big problem. Clean and quiet.
