For those who are curious, this thread was made to add to the FAQs at the top of this Forum
A blocked member cannot determine that you have blocked his posts. However, one can determine if his private messages are blocked. Perhaps the easiest way would be to just send a private message. Also, the New (private) Message window contains a link that allows one to see if he is allowed to send you private messages.

In both cases, the member would not know if he was explicitly blocked or you had used a general block on your preferences page.

I imagine most would assume an explicit block, since few know very much about what is on the preference page.

I think it becomes necessary when some people consistently go over the top and mess up threads for those of us who still want to see the info contained in the thread. sad, but some people never know when to quit.

I can understand that someone might block someone else's PMs but, for the life of me, I can't understand why anyone would block another person's posts. Couldn't you just not read them?

I like my truck site. Users have ratings. And you set at what level you block people at. Bad posters don't last long.
However, I'm pretty sure that's different forum software.

Except that if someone else quotes a blocked post--then the person blocking will get to see the information all the same. I think it is all pretty silly.
Hi pianotuna,
Yes, you are correct, but I don't know what it has to do with the purpose of my post.
