Problem we have with N811 is the door isn't stiff enough to make the gasket contct the sealing surface of the box. And it's not like the door is warped. It hangs straight but kicks out a the bottom since it only latches at the top corner. So our door closing gesture includes a knee to the corner.

Hi

Had my door fall off last week while on vacation, 08 HR purchased new last year. New door from American RV. Norcold customer service gave me a part number, 634166. It is a reinforcement kit for the door hinges. Camping World wants $45.00 plus shipping for it. I would like to see it first to see if it's worth $45.00. New door was $198.00 with shipping, kit might be good insurance.

The bracket kit includes two, right and left hand. When they first came out you had to specify which one you needed. IMHO the support bracket is great insurance. Just remember to put the washer on the pin before putting the door back on if you get the kit.

My Norcold door in my TT had a really goofy hinge setup; when the top hinge pin/screw fell out the door fell off and broke the bottom hinge. Why anyone would design a hinge screw going _upwards_ is beyond me.

At any rate, I replaced the broken pot-metal hinge, drilled out both hinges and just through-bolted them from the top. Now even if the nut falls off the pin/bolt will stay in place. It's ugly but it works.

The is an 821 (I think) with that big wood door insert. My lightweight-door 641 in my old MH is doing fine.

There's been some real dumb engineering involved.

I just got the hinge reinforcement kit from Norcold along with a new door. Looks like it will fix the problem once and for all. The kit came with parts for both the left and right side. I only needed the right side as my doors hinge on the right. If anyone can use the left side let me know and I will send it to you for the cost of postage.

The lower hinge broke on our friend's Nocold refrigerator in his Seneca 34SS and he repaired himself. As I recall, he "glued" it back together using JB Weld and filled the hollow center of the hinge with that material. They are on the road right now but I'll check with him when they return.

My 35GS Seneca Norcold broke twice I did the same as mentioned by Paulin with JB weld and two stainless steel screws. Have not a had a problem in two years and several miles.

Mine fell off. Fixed with JB Weld and two screws until the new, under warranty, door arrived. Worked fine for a one month trip camping. Norcold rep told me the old door had lousy hinges and new door was "reinforced." Saved the old one in case this happens again.

It matches the rest of the quality of the Norcold frig.. They start on fire and fail regularly. Why would you need a long lasting door ?
I bet there are more posts on this forum about Norcold problems than anything else.

Dometic has had it's share of recalls as well and we've personally gotten better service from NORCOLD (we've had 5 of their fridges)and still have a 12 volt fridge freezer that is 30 yrs old and going strong.

Just ordered 634166 from Camping World. Had to call CW technical services at 800-622-6264 for assistance as store staff couldn't locate.

President's Club price was $22.00 with free shipping.
