Yesterday I emptied my black water tank, and when I went inside to see the level of it, the monitor said it was 3/4 full yet it was empty? I've been told that sometimes tissue gets stuck to the sensor and gives false readings.. If so, how do I fix it?

Either get a tank sprayer in there to blast off the paper, or dump a 20# bag of ice in the toilet, add 2 gallons of water, and take a drive on a winding road. The ice should knock the paper off.

Hi,
Water in the black tank can slosh around and get the sensors clean. But why bother?
At least in my RV, I have a 59 gallon tank, and that will serve 6 people for over 2 weeks, so I no longer need to check the black water fullness. Other than to fill it with 6-10 gallons of fresh water before dumping, so that all the solids go out with the ruch of other water leaving the tank.
I never rely on the black water tank level.
The grey tank seems to be fairly accurate.

Use a tank wand or install tank rinser or you can fill and drive around but I prefer rinsing tank out after dumping. Our tanks always read empty after dump/rinse but I wouldn't worry too much about black tank as inaccurate sensor readings are common.

I've heard a lot that ice can do the trick.. Guess I will try it. Thanks everyone!

You can spend a lot of energy trying to keep the tank readings accurate. A lot of energy.....
Everybody has a system to keep their sensors clean and working....Its like having a plan to win an argument with a woman; none of them work.
Once you accept the fact that they are useless you can enjoy camping a lot more by just understanding how long you can go between dumping. Then all you have to do is count the days. Life again is simple.

True.. But since the TT is only a few months old, I want everything to keep working for a while longer

It's not that hard -- at all -- to keep your tanks, and sensors, clean. Some folks just don't want to take the extra 5 minutes here and there to do it, and that's there prerogative.
There are plenty of descriptions in this forum of what to do, but it basically comes down to drain, flush well, and always keep a few gallons of liquid in the tank.
