I am looking onto purchase of a 5th Wheel and hoping to buy something that is easily set-up at the campsite, I am looking into units with auto-leveling. But, now I am hearing these sales guys say some are only front leveling with stablizers in the rear, etc. I am more and more confused.

Does anyone have the real scoop on Auto-leveling and if so can you make recommendations as to the best options in 5th Wheels ?

Hey Barry,

The Bigfoot system works good. I think Lippert has an auto leveling system out also. Unhook, push the auto button and you're level in a minute..

There is an article in the August issue of Trailer Life Magazine on a Hitchiker. On page 36, it mentions a Big Foot hydraulic leveling system ($2726). Apparently the leveling system is available on certain 5th wheels.

We had a NuWa Hitchhiker with Big Foot. We love it. You can look at NuWa's web site at ***link*** You can also buy directly from them. Big Foot levels by having a hydraulic jack at each of the four corners. One version of Big Foot is fully automatic meaning once you unhook, you push one button and it levels the rig. They have another version (costs less) that is manual.

I have the level up by Lippert. It has six jacks and I preffer the manual leveling over the auto part. I think I only used the auto once. I can lift all four wheels off the ground. You can get it on the new Cedar Creek's and Mobile Suites. I don't think the Big Foot is recommended if the frame is 10" or less (thats not from Big Foot). If it's a 10" frame the six jacks on the Level Up would be better. I'm not knocking Big Foot. I was going to get the Big Foot until my research reviled that on my 10" frame six jacks would be better. There are people with the Big Foot on the 10" frame's but I decided to era on the side of caution. That's my story and I'm sticking to it.

We traded our truck and fifth wheel for a 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee Limited 4x4. (8-30-13)Haven't used them in almost a year.

I believe the bigfoot system is now standard on all Carriage units as well....I have seen them in person at campgrounds and the owners LOVE them and I am VERY jealous!!!

Big foot makes both manual & auto systems. The auto system can be controlled manually. Not only does the auto system work great but it is handy for changing tires and checking bearings. On my triple axle 23,500 lb trailer I can lift all 6 wheels to work on wheels while the DW continues full-time lifestyle inside.

Bigfoot is standard on all Carriage fifth wheels except the newest (yet to be released model, the Solstice). I wish I had it on my Cameo.
