My DW friend from H.S. along with her DH were victims of a propane explosion Tuesday night while camping at Shawnee State Park Ohio.
The article can be viewed here.
Amy was life flighted to Cambel Huntington Hospital with 1st degree burns over 19% of her body.
Steve was life flighted to OSU with 2nd degree burns on his face, arms, chest. and hands.
The explosion hurled Amy 50 feet from the rig.
The rig burned to the ground
Amy posted her status on Facebook "getting ready to go camping...yea!!! just Steve and I and two of the dogs" the day of the explosion.
P.s. The dogs are fine
Thoughts, prayers, and good vibes requested this way!
I can fill you in on the details as I get them.
Thx
Big Dad
EDIT: DW says dogs(chihuahuas) are burnt pretty bad.

Wow, they will be in my prayers…
It sure brings it home when its someone you know and not the other guy…
Just one word of caution, and I have no idea what caused this explosion… that being make sure the oven valve is turned to off…
Many of times I have been in RV’s and smelled gas because the oven was turned to the pilot position without being lit…
While that is unlikely the cause of the explosion here, it can be a cause for concern…

I do know about burn patients,my son was burned with 2nd/some 3rd degree burns over arms/back/and but.Our boat had a oil fire, and it was the worst time for a dad going to the burn tank, and removing the dead skin. This was done twicw a day.I know its tough for you now,but prayers are what got us thru, and at 20,he wants to help other burn patients at camp next year. The worst part,is staying out of the sun for about 2 years.

The link I posted now has a video. It appears that you are correct in your thinking concerning the oven.
My rig dosen't have a propane leak detector for whatever reason. It didnt have one when I bought it used...but one will be installed before my next trip.

The same thing happened to friends of ours a number of years ago. Both were hospitalized & the new RV was totally destroyed. Neither of them will go anywhere near an RV today.

We came close to an explosion recently. We stopped for a quick lunch in the rig, could only let out the small slide,to get to the fridge.I was standing at the bar and forgettting how much my butt stuck out instead of moving aside to let my husband pass I made him squeeze by me. Unknowing to us in doing so he pushed in and turned a knob on the stove. When we arrived at our destination 3 or 4 hours later the alarm was screaming,we opened the door to an over powering smell of gas. We quickly opened the doors, windows and turned on the Fantastic Fan. Even though the smell quickly cleared out I was still afraid to cook that night(good excuse to eat out!). From now on I WILL move aside to let him pass and we will check the knobs before exiting the rv. Any spark at all and we would have been towing a flat bed-scary thought!

I'm glad this worked for you but you should never turn on an electrical item when you smell gas. You could have easily ignited the gas when you turned on the fan. Shut off the gas, open doors and windows and stay away till it airs out.

Exactly the "spark" from the switch or the motor energizing could have made it go "boom".
Glad it all worked out for you.
And to the OP. Thought and prayers are on the way.
