The old style panels don't "put out" in moonlight--but they do have diodes between each cell.
Well thanks for the clarification!
And... that's really too bad. Was it just the age of those "old style" panels, or was it that the old ones were, perhaps Canadian... and female? Or is it just the northern cold that makes them so "frigid."
Looks like I, myself am in quite a mood tonight as well. Sorry.
Cheers,

Pictures from Sundays (yesterday's) solar install
on the ground, just got all washed up before mounting
Being mounted on the roof, view from the front of RV looking toward rear
View from the rear, showing all the panels
the pre-existing (4) panels totaling 90 watts is in the bottom foreground, the new to us Uni-Solar panels are in background 'top' of the this picture
108F today, to HOT to park in the sun and take amp readings, ran the generator all day for A/C,
maybe tomorrow I can get some amp readings and do a test of the blue sky controller,
there is way too much(too long) small gauge wire (14 ga?) in the OEM solar install, to make good use of the the MPPT capabilites

Options, always have options, and the journey goes much smoother ....

I BOUGHTthis phone
At 7:30 AM, with overcast skys we got 1.7 amps charge
The genny is now running and the batts are taking 57amps, and the skys are still cloudy (thank god !) So no chance of getting a full use amps reading today
Yesterday was 108°F, todays forecast 102°F
Man I need to head back to the mountains

Can't you...
1. Shut the converter off for awhile? (It's not like you won't be running the genny in the heat of the afternoon and thus charging again)
Actually no
The converter is the inverter, and there are four duplex outlets on that circuit and three of them have something on them including the fridge, If I turn off the cb it defaults to inverter power unless I turn off the inverter function, this is what happens on normal days Or travel days
No full sun "it's cloudy" , batteries have already revived a substantial charge, no reason to move from under the shade tree for an inconclusive test
The low battery full sunlight will happen too soon !! anyway

Alright. I was just curious how well the new panels would perform in the middle of a cloudy day.
