Excellent... I'll keep trying to keep things updated as other users share their experiences with me too... Just shout out if you have any questions during your installation...

Thank you for this thread. Very informative. I've been thinking of something like this, but didn't know where to start. It sounds like this is fairly simple to get hooked up, which is what I need these days.

I used to be able to read directions and follow through with no problems. We've been through a lot the last 5 years, that caused huge stress loads on us - I'm not getting any younger, and I have serious pain issues and meds that don't help my brain any. I find it very frustrating when my grey matter doesn't perform like it used to.

I'm definitely going to look in to this set up you describe further. Thanks again for sharing.

Pleasure...and just let me know if you have any trouble hooking it up and getting it to work for you...

Chuggs - Thank you so much for the information that you have provided. Since we started traveling in a MH in 2007 we have been concerned for our cats while we we are out of the MH. We are planing a six week trip to the northwest and Yosemite toward the end of August and I just got the system that you recommended. Initial testing at home show that it will work great. I tested the low temp alert by putting the sensor in the freezer and the high temp alert by using a hair dryer. Everything works great. This trip will be a lot more enjoyable knowing that our "fur kids" environment is being monitored.
Thanks again.

Dave,

I appreciate the feedback... No need to thank ME --- It's thanks to YOU! Thank YOU for being a guardian...and looking after your "fur kids"!

That trip sounds epic! I hope you all have a very enjoyable and safe journey...

All the best,

Charlie

I just ordered the parts from Amazon....not sure whether I have an old phone laying about to use with it yet but Ill deal with that when Im configuring it. I may be back to ask question cause as much as I love gadgets, Im techically challenged. Thanks again for this thread.

Well....I just did a preliminary hook up of the components! Everything works just Great so far. I still need to tweak the power sources, add a switch, find a good location for everything and find an old phone that can be used as a base unit(most of my old phones are so old, they probably are well outdated). All in all, Im very happy with how it came together. Thanks again for this well thought out solution.....oh my "girls" Thank you too!

Im going to try a little different approach to powering the components by using a Multi-tap 12 volt Cig lighter adaptor with an on/off switch. Ill plug in the Phone link with appropriate coaxial adaptor, Ill use a varible DC adaptor set to 9 volts(I had this laying around, it reduces 12v to 3,6,9,12 volts)for the back up battery on the Alarm and finally Ill plug in the 12 volt phone charger. Im thinking in this way, I can just turn off all of the plugged in accessories with just one switch. Thoughts?

This really is a Great "peace of mind" project....
