Hurricane creek was always one of our favorites at LBL. We enjoy it much more than the much more crowded Helmans Ferry or Energy Lake. Always preferred getting AWAY from the crowds when camping

We have stayed at Fishermans Corner COE near Hampton IL - it's right on the Mississippi River. Nice campground, nothing fancy.

Are you going all the way to Chicago for any particular reason? I would cross Illinois on 74, then go north to 90 at Des Moines just to avoid Chicago.

When we went to Yellowstone, we drove through Nebraska and left the interstate at North Platte. Took 26 into the Tetons and Yellowstone from there. Nice drive with lots of neat Oregon Trail history along the way.

We need to stop, on the way there or back in Jackson Mn. just off 90 also need to stop some where between Beliot Wi. and Antioch Il.for more family, probably Chain O Lakes State Park. We don't want to go the same route both ways. Any Suggestions greatly appreciated Thanks
