You can find your vehicle assembly plant, engine size, ect with this VIN decoder.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/maintenance/vin_tools/default.asp

I found out mine is a F53 chassis, V8, assembled in Mexico.

Yes I already knew that, but it is a cool website anyway.

I also found a towing guide for 2007 models.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/rv_trailer_towing/2007/2007_default.asp

You can change model year 2007 to a range from 2002 to present model year.

Neat, thanks! Says my Ford is made in USA. Cool, all 3 of our cars are American made. I wondered about the Ford.

Check out this cool VIN decoder. You'll find more useless information about your rig than you ever thought possible! It even compares your complete configuration to everything else in the database to determine how common or rare it might be. It told me there were only 4 exact matches to my rig. Yeah right.

This still works great!

If you want to find the rear axle ratio, look on the VIN sticker on the drier's front door, look for the axle code at the bottom, and then look it up in the towing guide for your Ford Vehicle.

https://www.fleet.ford.com/showroom/rv_trailer_towing/2009/2009_default.asp

You can find towing guides for 2002 - 2012 Ford vehicles with the link above. At the bottom of the guide, there is a axle de-coder.

Basically I found that those ending in 2 is the 4.10, while 3.55 ends in 9, and 3.73 rear ratio ends in 4 (IE 24 or 34, while limited slip is B4 and C4.

Standard - - - - Limited slip
3.55 29/39 - - - Not Available
3.73 24/34 - - - - B4/C4
4.10 22/32/52/56/82 B2/C2/E2/E6/F2

Unfortunatly the Compnine web site shut down forever a couple of months ago. I used it often and now miss it.

I was trying to find out if the current model year Flex is towable, but the website at Ford in all their thoughtfullness does not allow anyone to download the entire brochure anymore, only the 2-5 pages that are for each model, so the section that says "These vehicles are towable" is not listed in the Flex download of page 21 and 22. What idiots!

My rant for the night, perhaps I can use the link above to click on the towing guide and get the whole guide, not just 4 pages of it.

I tested a few VINs on it, and gotta be careful, because there were some doozie errors on it.
