I can light my pilot light but it won't stay lit when I turn the knob to light the burner. I hold the knob in for quite a while before turning so I am convinced that the thermocouple/pilot assembly is bad. It is very easy to replace so all I need to know is where I can buy it. I have talked with Atwood but they have a minimum order so I can't get it from them. Can anyone tell me of someplace that I can call to order this assembly?

Thermocouple:
Get the measurement (length) and go to any major hardware store. They are all the same and only the length varies by appliance.

I am assuming you have checked to be sure the pilot flame is centered on the thermocouple.

Don't know your model #, but PPL in Houston shows this pilot light assembly for the Atwood at about $21: Link
or search from PPL RV parts
maybe?

Not sure what model, I had the same problem on my oven. Turns out that the knob prevented the post from pushing in far enough to engage the thermocouple. I stuffed some paper in the knob to offset it and now the oven pilot lights? Just a thought you might want to try.

Not the same solution as mopuma had, but I pulled out the knob, before I pushed it in,and that makes a point which allows the gas to be lit.

Which brings me to another point, that is, why there isn't a lighter switch, or something that would allow a person to light the oven more easily.

I had the exact same symptoms and the fix above solved my problems, too.
