So the front of my TT has a propane quick connect and everyone seems to be saying that I really cannot use it to fuel my portable grill unless I (1) tap off of my propane tanks before the regulator, thereby not using the quick connect, or (2) making up a hose and fitting to eliminate the regulator on the grill.

So if that's the case... What is the quick connect for?

I think I'm going to go with option 2, BTW.

I agree RS.

The "quick connect" is only for TT propane needs; not anything else. Very inflexible.

AFAIK all these propane disconnects are for LP pressures and if you try and feed a regulator designed for high pressure propane it might not work or stop working if you are running other propane appliances at the same time. Also, even if you get it to work on an appliance with another regulator will it continue to work or shut off at the wrong time. I guess some propane grills, etc have the regulator before the grill and then gas valves on the grill and in this case the LP propane hook up I would think should work.

I "T"'d after the regulator, I have two tanks. Then ran a hose the full length of the trailer, another "T" and two quick disconnects from a propane sale store, now have two spots to have one for a BBQ and one for my stove.

If your trailer came with a grill it should be a low pressure grill and it should work as is. If not go with your option 2 or get a low pressure grill.

Hello,

This is a low pressure propane port, this is is used for propane appliances that do not have a pressure regulator on them. Many trailer manufactures offered a portable grill (without a high pressure regulator) connected to this port. There maybe other grills our there that are set up for low pressure.

I installed a low pressure port on my trailer. I modified my Webber Q220 to use this port. I did this by installing a T fitting in front of the high pressure regulator on the grill. I had a 20' low pressure propane hose made with a male ends of the quick connect on both ends so one end will connect to the port on the trailer and the other end connects to the grill, it works like a charm.

buy a grill with a removeable regulator and you are set. The photo does not show it but the regulator hose can be unthreaded, and another hose with a quick connect can be used.

Does anyone know if option 2 would work with a Coleman roadtrip grill. I have not looked at since last year but I believe the bottle screws onto the regulator and then it connects to the back of the grill. The quick connect would be much more convenient then the little bottles.

Take the regulator off the grill and install a quick disconnect.
