I need to replace the 3" Bristol waste valve on my black tank. I see a lot of places selling the Valterra Bladex valve and not many of the Bristol valves. I think Valterra makes the Bristol valves. Does anyone have any experience with using a Valterra valve instead of a Bristol valve?

Thanks

Haven't used a valve, but several other Valterra pieces and have never had a problem with them.

I like Valterra valves because they work and new seals are available most RV stores. Use stainless bolts and nuts. I replace the seals every 5 yrs or so

I use Crisco. Being a vegetable product, it is less likely to hurt the rubber than a petroleum product..

I just replaced both the 3" black and the 1 1/2" gray valves with Valterra valves that's what was on it. Jim

I don't think they are part of the same company. Bristol is in Elkhart, and Valterra is in California. I bought a Bristol 1.5" valve and a Valterra one, and the Bristol body is thinner, but the seals protrude more. You might have a tight squeeze fitting the Valterra in there, I dunno. Valterra says theirs replace a Bristol. Well, everything lines up the same, but the width might depend on if you have any wiggle room.

I bought the Bristol at Pontiac RV in Pontiac, IL. They are on the web, I think. Didn't notice if they had any 3 inchers.
