Duane, thanks for the information. It's the information that's important and we can all decide how we want to use it. I have a smaller 5th wheel but love the truck centers when I'm towing it. I know they are easy to get into and out of. I had trouble with my Flying J card years ago but went to the Pilot/flying J card site after reading your post. They clarified on how to use the card and that they are updating their employees about RV's. Think I'll try using it again.

flying J's and Pilot RV rewards cards
my new Flying J card does not work correctly. I just got it & activated it and tried it out. I went to Flying J location # 734 just North of Houston. Invoice # 45290. Date 03/25/12. Time 11:41. Auth # 199469.
The pump accepted the card, I pumped 4.631 gallons (just wanted to see how it worked before a long trip). The pump showed no differ in the price when I used the card. No change at all on the pump price. The receipt however, says "You received a 5 cent per gal savings". It shows You Saved = 18cents. "Loyalty card used # 7267. 5 cents x 4.6 gal is not 18 cents. Should be closer to 23 cents depending on how it rounds up or down. Yeah, I know 23 cents-big deal. Pls remember, I was checking the new program to see how it works. When I fill up for real it'll be 35 gallons.
Additionally I tried to use the card inside to get a special 99cent coffee that my gas receipt showed on "Special" that day. The card would not work in the register inside the store. The clerk told me it wasn't a valid FLying J rewards or loyalty card. What's that ? I thought this new card was gona' be my Flying J everything card; Good for all services and products at a Flying J. I wrote Good Sam customer service or member services. All I got back was an email saying "it's not a Good Sam program. It is a Flying J program and I'd have to contact them." What kind of a super fuel savings member benefit is this anyway ? First thing goes wrong and no one ever heard of it. Anyone else having trouble ? Could somebody please ck this out for me ? Thnx. jimsummers.

Big whup, here in Phoenix. Flying J and Love's are both middling-high; 3 cents ain't crap. Lowest around here is $3.95. Flying J is $4.19 and Love's is $4.23. Frustrating thing about Love's is that it's on the rez so the taxes =should= be lower, but they're not.

Glad you are seeing about the problem as I was going to get one also for our extended trip this summer. May just stick with the bank card that gives us rewards for using it then. Good luck and let us know what happens.

I've had erratic results using the card too, regarding the savings. I thought it was supposed to be only $0.02. But it is so low that I don't pay much attention. What matters to me is paying the cash price even though I am paying with a CC at the pump. That alone is worth the effort of inserting 2 cards.

I wonder if your savings is a combined per/gal discount, plus the difference in the cash price and credit price? Have no idea, just wondering. Perhaps you should just ask them. Heck, the card was free, right?

You can still use that card. The RV card is not a charge card.

Don't know what to make of this. I've had my card for over a year and have had no trouble getting the discount. The advantage for me is that it gives me pump start so I do not have to try & guess how much in dollars to have them put on the pump or wait in line just to have them start the pump then wait in line to pay. Haven't tried the coffee thing.

I like Flying J and Pilot, and use them frequently when traveling. I like the stores, and the fuel is okay. Have been an RV Rewards card holder for several years, and don't really see much value in it. I'll take the few cents per gallon when I'm there, but don't go out of my way to go there. If they want more of my business they will have to do better than $.03/gallon. My grocery store card gets me $.10 cents, and that is barely enough to matter.

X2. In my experience there's frequently a cheaper station on the interchange. And, many of the convenience stores out there along interstates now have pump islands that easily accommodate motor homes and long towable combos.

When you use the card is the discount off the cash price or the credit price?
There is a .06 difference here.
