From what I understand it varies by manufacturer. Our Newmar is listed at 35', but is actually 37.5' overall. I seem to recall reading somewhere that one mfg. measured from the ceiling in the bedroom to the floor in back!

Generally 5th wheels use to be messured inside back wall to inside the front wall. My 2005 Cardinal 29WBLX was messured that way. It is around 31.5 foot overall in lenght. Each manufacture seems to have gone off it their own direction in recent years.

There seems to be no rhyme or reason to it.

Our current Sierra is advertised as a 28 footer but it tape measures at 31.5 feet without the bumper or the pin box.

I heard a a few say it is based on the livable floor space inside the trailer, but I am not so sure on that one either.

Mr Black has nailed it, I can even show you where, in the same line from one builder, where their "26" was longer then their "27"

Your actual overall length, which will be listed on the specifications sheet, is from pin to bumper. But what they call it, and their model designations, are all over the map and often make no sense. I believe these are intentional misrepresentations, and it makes me angry, but I guess they can call their product whatever they want. But the specifications sheet had better not lie.

The "length" is assigned to each floor plan by the Advertising Department. The Overall Length quoted in the specifications is "usually" front cap to rear bumper or king-pin to rear bumper. There is no industry standard.

Look at my signature. The Titanium is a cab-over design with the front bedroom out over the cab of the truck. "30" is king-pin to rear bumper. "E" is "extended". "35" is nose to tail. Again, everything is rounded. My actual king-pin to bumper is 30'-5" and my actual overall is 36'-9". When I make reservations, I tell them it is a thirty-five foot, fifty Amp, fifth wheel.

There is no correlation between model numbers and actual size. Your fiver is MODEL28XXX and the size is 31+ feet long. Some manufacturers use the model number as an indication of frame length. Others don't Still makes no difference. The actual length will be listed on the manufacturers web site. IF you want to find out for yourself. tape measure from the rear bumper to the farthest point front. That is your actual length.
