Cochrans checking in ... just finished reading all the post for the last three weeks, one thing after another including a call to jury duty which David did get postponed until November, so looks like we will not be going South until after Dec. 1st, but hopefully before Dec. 10th ..

We have two daughters, their spouses, three granddaughters, four grandsons (one in Marines due to deploy from Calif.), and a gr-granddaughter, and gr-grandson there in the Tri-Cities (our home base minus the earth-attached home).

However the winter temps were almost too much last winter, so hoping to go South (not pinned down place yet) this winter, maybe Sacramento or ? since we may stop at two or three places for a month or so, then move on. Being in Louisiana in Dec. 2009 and Ft. Worth TX in Dec. 2008 did spoil us big time.

We are here in Warrenton (since Sept. 1st), across the road from Fort Stevens while doing 2 months of volunteer at Fort Clatsop. Yes, we are in our 18 foot'r, but hubby says never again for an extended period of time (more than a week).

And if it wasn't for the bunk area minus the mattress, we definitely could not make it. We have a bathtub in the rear bath, so there is storage there also. So far we like the Tamarack which came with no oven, however have not used the gas oven in the Alpenlite either (tried a coupla times, but didn't like results) thus the counter top convection oven in our Alpenlite).

I have Verizon cell and internet, and so far have not found any place except Brookhollow where can't get reception.

Kinda hard to catch y'all up on us in a just a few words. Bye for now from KOA across from Ft. STevens enjoying the touring and volunteering ...

Any of you - Tradewinds, Big Dog, Hobbo - that may be in the CW area on Wed. the 21st. come on down. I have an appointment for oil & filter change at 8:30 that morning. Hope I'm not cutting the rig stuff too close as we are heading east the next afternoon after Carolyn finishes her last day at the clinic. Will be slowly working our way back to Sun City.

Tradewinds - any time frame of when you guys expect to get down to Yuma? Carolyn needs new glasses and I need a visit to the dentist so I think we will just drop straight down there before we head into SC. Probably won't be until Oct. 20th. or so.

Lovin this "late" summer weather!

If the Rangers like us, we will be here until Halloween, we are at the KOA across from Ft. Stevens campground entrance in site I-8 (I-ate - southerner likes that). We are in a Tamarack Trail .. same one we took to Rally this past May.

We work Sat., Sun, and Monday at Ft. Clatsop Visitor Center.

We stopped at Dooger's tonight for a light supper - more exploring this next week on free days.

Bigdog, coffee sounds good to me, let me know when.
Just got back from 5 days at Willipa Harbor Golf and RV, a very nice place to spend a few quiet days....25 a night for W/P/Cable/Internet
dump site. 13 bucks for 9 holes of golf, a very nice course too. Raymond and Soutport are only a couple of miles away....Exhaust brake quit working so have to take it in for repair, DANG....

Look on the positive side, Bob. Better the exhaust brake quit at sealevel than coming down over the Rockies!

My father, Keith Ahrens, passed on Saturday morning after suffering with Multiple Myeloma. He'd been mowing the lawn up into April. Then had mostly remained ambulatory and coherent until a couple weeks ago. He only spent 2.5 days bedridden, so we are blessed that he did not spend a lot of time in pain bedridden. He was 93.

So sorry for you loss John. So glad he didn't spend a lot of time suffering. At 93 I am sure had had some great stories to tell. I used to love the stories my grandfather told up until his passing at age 88. The memories of those stories always bring a smile to my face and remind me how blessed we were to have him in our lives. I hope your dads memories will do the same for you and all who knew him..
