John - thanks for the reply on the reverse polarity! We had an electrician out last week to replace a breaker, before we had the rig out in front. Will have to call him in Oct. when we get back. I ran the extension cord through the front window for the rig and no problem. It was right behind the outside one!!

We go out of Sun City on Thurs. morning - Wed it had hit 95 and suppose to hit triple digits by Fri. or Sat. Made it all the way to Boulder City NV. and staying at the Elks club. Full hookups for $18/night! What a deal.

Spent 4+ hours at Hoover Dam and the tour down into it. Really neat.

Will head for St. George UT. on Sat. and stay a state park just out of town there for the weekend. Another long 175-180 miles!!

Take care

Ron and Carolyn, I apoligze for not getting back to you. We have spent so much time at the doctors that everything kind of took a back seat. When I got a chance to get out I went out jeeping. I guess its too late now to answer up on your questions. If you have not gotten the books let me know and I will see about getting a full set for you from the Elks, I think there are four of them..Bob

Bob,

Don't worry about it, I know you guys have a lot on your plate right now. No, I don't have any of the books. Do you have the name of the lodge that puts them out?

I have gotten some info off of the Elks website. I couldn't find any lodges in Utah!! Is that a surprise?!?

Hope you get everything lined up and feeling better before you leave.

You will have much better luck finding information on the ELKS RV FACILITIES website. Also, a considerable number of lodges that have RV parking or facilities are not listed in the books or on the website. Thee are three locations listed in Utah.

As with so many organizations with declining membership it is becoming more difficult to get volunteers to update information.

We often call lodges on our route and find they have RV facilities or parking space which are not listed. If ever passing through Spokane we have twenty five 30/50 amp spaces with water. I also installed a WiFi system two years ago and put a new amplifiers on the system a few weeks ago. The system covers the RV park and the inside lodge area. Our fee is a $15 per night donation.

Well,we made it home yesterday in one piece. Had a good run up the five with stops in Bakersfield again,Corning,Coburg and Portland, then home with no problems. We had planned to go to Santa Barbara and have dinner at the Savoy Cafe, but when I got to looking at RV parks, the closest one to town was $90, so rather than turning off the 405 onto 101,we kept going north on the five and once again spent the night at the Orange Grove RV park and got another bag of oranges and met some more nice people. Last time it was Steve and his wife.
What is really amazing is the differences in gas mileage you get from day to day. Going from Oceanside to Bakersfield with a lot of stop and go in L.A. and climbing out over the Grapevine we got 7.5.From B'field to Corning,up the long, long, long valley,we got 6.1,while the next day up and over the mountains in Ca and those nasty little things in Oregon,it was 7.1.Go figger.

Audrey Evelyn was born this morning at 5:53am. She is a healthy 7lb, 4oz, 19-1/2" long with a full head of hear. Everyone is doing fine, although a little tired. Here are some photos.

Okay, now that we have the baby here, Laura and I need to get everything ready for the rally. It's only 3 weeks away and we have a lot of stuff to do before then, but I'm sure we'll make it. Can't wait to see everyone again.

Dick - thanks for the link to the Elks RV sites. I thought I had that, but the website looks different from what I was on.

We spent 3 days at Bryce Canyon NP and boy did it get cold the last night!! Did the infamous Utah 12 route over the "hogback" and I didn't even know when we got across it - neither did Carolyn, much to her relief!!

Spent 2 days in the Fruita Historical District campground in Capital Reef NP, it is still one of our all time favorite national park campgrounds. BIG spots, grass, shade trees, deer, Fremont River and lots of old Mormon history and orchards, along with the incredible scenery of Capital Reef. No cell service however.

Currently parked at Cabela's just north of Lehi Utah overlooking the north end of Utah Lake and mountains all around us. What a spot and its free, with a dump station and water!! Can't beat that with a stick!!

Meeting up with a cousin for several days up in West Jordan. Hope everyone is fine.

Ron,you are making me soooo jealous. I did a solo trip thru there a number of years ago on the way back from Ghost Ranch in New Mexico.Spent a couple of nites at Arches, three nites at Fruita and a full day on the Cathedral Valley loop and another on the waterfold road and up and over the top.Two VERY cold nites at Bryce,10 degrees at night in April and three in Chaco. Chaco and Capital reef were my very favorite places.I was traveling in my '94 Cherokee sport and sleeping in my REI McKinley 2 1/2# down bag in a tent. It was amazing where all I took that car the places I did,all by myself and no cell phone, and survived.
It was an awesome trip and I have the pix from it. Of course they were all on film and not digitals.
