After four months of looking, I finally ordered our new 2012 Adventurer 86SBS yesterday. We are very excited to have our first BRAND NEW camper. We've had 6 previous campers, all used. Now it's our turn to break in a fresh new toy. As excited as we are to finally have our camper on it's way. I must say how disappointing and discouraging the ordering process was. It was extremely difficult to get any dealer to return a phone call or email. Not one dealer I emailed through traderonline, respond. I'd call them and they'd say "oh yeah, I got your email a few days ago." Evidentially asking questions in the truck camper industry is a no-no. I had the Sales & Marketing Manager of Adventurer tell me "I've done enough research and I just need to make a purchase.". This infuriated me, the whole process infuriated me. I had actually put a deposit on a TT because I was so upset with the whole experience. Has anyone else had problems with TC dealers calling back; or crappy sales people not caring? I'm really worried about dealing with service and warranty issues! After the horrible customer service, some might think I'm crazy for buying and becoming a customer, however I wasn't about to let a bunch of wormy knuckle heads get in the way of what I want! Anyhoo, soon to be camping happily, Disco

It's hard to find good caring people in any work field today. With all that behind you, I'm glad your looking forward and you didn't allow those lazy people to discourage you. We wish you the best .
Have many safe miles and many happy trips.
It's a very nice tc . It looks nice n comfy . Take a pic when it arrives .

Good for you DiscoChicken for not letting them change your mind. Everyone has a story about a dealer or saleman. I like you cannot understand why people don't return emails. It just makes no cents.

I am very surprised the weight police are not trying to stop you before you even purchase this camper. The weight of an Adventurer 86SBS is well over 3400lbs dry with options, unless you are not buying any options. The payload of the 2011 Ford F-250 with diesel is 2600lbs!

By the read of your post those "wormy knuckle heads" might have ignored you because you were trying to put too large a camper on not enough truck. They might have been doing you a favor. Also by the response from the Adventurer manager you might have been asking a little more than a few questions.

Sounds like a forced purchase to me.

Good luck with it though. There is nothing more fun than exploring with a truck camper.

Congrats...we really like the 86SBS...when we are ready to upgrage, that will be it!
We are pleased with our current Adv...they are well built and a good value, enjoy and good luck.

BTW. my experience with the previous Sales Mgr at Adv (Bu...Mo...)was the opposite...he was very helpful and always returned calls/emails...even though our 810WS is older.

Perhaps the new Guy was having a bad day...

Hi Disco,
I live in Mt Pleasant, Perth, Western Australia.
My Adventurer 910FBS is very Pleasant, like your 86SBS.
Just watch them cupboards above the bedhead, when horizontal
stacking with the wife, I found it can sometimes, very UN Pleasant.

Congrats Disco Chicken. I'm sure you will be happy with the camper once you get it, and all the hassles with the dealer will melt away with great memories made in your new camper.

We are going on the 30th to A & M SEVICES to pick up our new Northstar Laredo. We have been waiting patiently for ours to come in. We had a great experiance with A & M Services when ordering our camper. They were great to deal with. Allways responeded quickly to any e-mails we sent concerning our camper.

When do you expect to get it? I'm in Mt.Pleasant also, we should get together some time and check out each others rigs and maybe go camp sometime.
