Noticed recently that the web site for Bodiak is no longer accessible. Called today to see what is going on and was told they have discontinued production for the time being. The economy and demand etc. They have a few in stock and are maintaining a list of names interested in purchasing a unit so they can call when/if they begin production again. The number is 623-934-3936.
Said they were thinking about just doing Dodge and Ford as those are the most in demand. Also, Dodge, for example, uses the same unit from '04 to present. They don't want to try to make and stock so many different models.
If you are thinking of ordering one, call and get on the list. Possibly, if enough people express an interest, i.e. want to order, they might start producing them again.
This unit seems like such a great idea. Guess I should have ordered one last fall when I was first thinking about it.
Bummer. Was going to order one for a trip in a month, I reckon that ain't gonna happen (getting the hitch not the trip). Couldn't remember the name so I was just googling front hitches. Don't really like the ones that attach directly to the frame requiring you to drill holes not only to hold the mount but a large 1.25" one on each side that you use to fish the bolt through the frame from. (though I did come across a forum post where they completely removed the front bumper to gain access to the inside of the frame)
canoe on top, thanks for the heads up and number! !
I thought about it, but then had a permanent front hitch installed from a local installer instead which was about the same cost, and I can still use my tow hooks.
