So, while I surf for ideas on a B van, I keep coming across this saying (see title). Can someone direct me to it's source? There's just too many posts quoting it without credit for me to find where it originated from.
So. Song? Poem? TV show joke?
Why? Because at my age, I have maybe 40 more chances to see flowers bloom.

You didn't put too much effort into this.....
I Googled "Living in a van down by the river", and got tons of stuff....and it appears that it started as a Saturday Night Live skit,
HERE
Also, it's now in the Urban Dictionary too!
Basically, if you are a loser, you end up living in a van down by the river......though then again, they don't seem to realize just how neat that actually is

If you are between the age of 35 and 60 and you dont know where the phrase came from you probably spent a lot of time outside the country or you dont watch TV at all or you never worked in a job where people talked about what went on during the weekend. The Late Chris Farley and Down by The River

Pap...did too! Just didn't focus much.
Thanks rv.
Keith....well, SNL was something when I was doing the 20-something thing. After that, me and my crowd left it behind. Lost all the good ones. Chris Farley came after my heyday with SNL.
Crud. Was hoping it was a song. To download. lol

One of the bits that catapulted Chris Farley's comedy career. BTW, it was absolutely hilarious

Thanks for posting that video link. I remember seeing it long (long, long, long) ago. It's probably even more funny now. Seeing as how now my goal in life IS to live in a van down by the river....
