Condits Ranch near Putnam, IL.

We have gone to Clinton State Rec. Area the last 3 Memorial Day weekends, but were late booking our spots this year. The campground was completely booked a month ago! WTF!?

No biggie though - we have friends who have a permanent site at Condits Ranch and in talking with them and the campground owners, we may have found a new favorite.

I'm jetting out of work early tomorrow afternoon, and we'll head that way thursday late afternoon for a 4 night stay! CAN. NOT. WAIT!

Took our holiday early by going to Davis Mts. SP this past weekend. It was us about 8 campers off and on in the FHU sites. The W/E had mostly tent campers over the weekend. We also went to the benefit to help out with the residents affected by the fires. Then we will be back for the 4th of July. Ft. Davis put on a great events.

Staying home, but DD and SIL will be using my guest house on wheels when they visit.

for those of you who want some good weather, I will send you some of our sunshine and dry days... We have not had one drop of rain all month.. about 8 inches below normal already this year and temps in the upper 90's. it is supposed to cool off to 95 tomorrow.

We've decided to ditch our previous plans. We're now headed to Canton Lake Oklahoma where we have spent many nights in the past to help with the tornado cleanup.

The people we talked to at the benefit was worried about how the news reported the fire. To them it sounded like the town itself was burning & it was not. So, they have already noticed tourist not coming. Looking at the TPWD Memorial Day weekend is full for FHU, several W/E open. From Balmorhea to Ft. Davis you see what has been burned & Wildrose Pass. Heading to either Alpine & Marfa you see the how the fire took out large areas. After getting closer to Marfa you can see the point it started at. We did take a day trip down to Ft. Pena Colorado with lots of land burnt. Inside the park several of the sites face areas that the fire came close too. We had #9 and down to 16, up the hill campsites face a burned hill side. What was odd is the you will see places with a large areas the fire was & brown grass in the center not touched.

Oak Plantation in Charleston SC. Hope to play some golf, do some kayaking and fishing and leave a little time to just kick back and relax.

How are they doing up there? I was in Marfa and Alpine last week for work but didn't get up to Ft Davis.
