We're at Gros Morne National Park and would really like to take the gravel roads through Labrador to Quebec instead of retracing our steps. Has anyone taken these roads recently & do you think we could do it in our 2005C 210P Roadtrek?

The last stretch of roads in Labrador from Blanc Sablon through Labrador to Labrador City, then on to Baie Comeau was opened in the winter of 2009.

The next thing for you is to check is: http://www.roads.gov.nl.ca/cameras/default.stm. You will find a lot of useful links from that site.

Including: http://www.tw.gov.nl.ca/ferryservices/index.html, which connects to a lot of ferries, yes, the one for Blanc Sablon to St. Barbe. Yes, it's running now. There's a senior rate too.

& once you get to Baie Comeau, you can decide whether to take a ferry across the St. Lawrence or to drive down the north shore.

& while you're at it take a look at my photo album.

& ask locals as you go along. They always like visitors and enjoy telling visitors interesting things to do.

Enjoy

& I, I took the road less travelled by.

In 2008, we drove our Focus from Baie Comeau up to Goose Bay. Ice bergs failed to allow us to make it to the island of Newfoundland. We had no trouble with the gravel roads on this section. Some pot holes and washboarding, but nothing too different from any US gravel roads. No ideas about the new section.
We are heading to Newfoundland in July, and will follow your route from Gros Morne to Goose Bay and back to Baie Comeau. Let us know what you think about the roads. Good luck.
