Haven't been to Alaska, Connecticut, Rhode Island yet but haven't seen one in the other states that required RV's to stop at weigh stations.
Interested if I missed one or just got lucky. Would hate to have to pay that EXTREMELY high fine. How much is it?
I can think of 3 very quickly.....I have seen a portable sign before the scales in FL that said all RV and Vans must stop, I saw the same setup on I-80 eastbound out of Reno just 2 years ago, we see it in Texas all the time. If you read the signs in NM, it says very clearly, "all vehicles towing another vehicle with a draw bar must stop", which defines a motorhome with a toad to a T. I asked a NM highway patrolman and his comment was yes, that is the law, but we seldom enforce it. As I said, READ the signs as you approach the scales, for your own security. The fine in the last jurisdiction I worked before retiring, was $500 to $1000 for passing the scales when directed into them.

Drove a trailertruck all over the lower 48, and stopped in a bunch of chicken coops. Not once did I see a RV in there, and not once did I see a sign saying anything other than Commercial Vehicles need to stop.
Now the checkpoint coming out of McAllen TX was a different story. Every thing had to stop.

OK here's the ones I can remember:
Using this Google Maps I was able to zoom in on the sign that says Trucks, Trailers,Pichups, & Vans must stop at this weigh station in Fanning Springs FL 32693 Maybe this will show it. Give it a little time and it will clear up. You can click on the left arrow to pan to the weigh station.
You can play with this one on I-10
and this one in Palatka, FL.

This post is my opinion (free advice). It is not intended to influence anyone's judgment nor do I advocate anyone do what I propose.
In FL was that a weigh station or agriculture check point? On US 19 there are two towns near each other. One has a weigh station, the other an agriculture check point.

That being said there is a pull off outside of El Paso on I-10 and one just inside of New Mexico on I-10 that everybody has to get off and let the dog smell you lol.....But there will bo no question if you have to pull in cause the Interstate is blocked and traffic will be backed up. The dog is very busy.....
I think you're describing a Border Patrol checkpoint. There are several in Texas, and other border states.

It's a little more then a Border Patrol check point, just ask Willie. The Border Patrol does operate it in the name of home land security. But the dogs are not looking for Mexicans.
If I remember the ones in Fla were Ag check points, not weigh stations. Kinda the same as our Border Patrol check points. I think they are only checking for van loads of one kind of crop though.

Strange that I found it on this weigh stations site. It has also been know to dip your diesel tank to see what color fuel you are using. When I had a 5er and my sister lived just down the road and there was NO WAY around this one, they dipped my tank because I had a transfer pump and extra tank. That is when I asked them to weigh each axle for me.
I agree that it is unusual that we would have to stop but to tell someone that you NEVER have to is not true. All I'm saying is you need to read the signs carefully before blowing by. THE END!

If you look at the Google Street View for the link you provided to the Florida checkpoint in Fanning Springs, you'll see that there was a truck towing a trailer directly in front of the Google camera car, and it didn't stop at the checkpoint... Fanning FL Checkpoint, Google Street View
If you look closely, one of the signs says, "Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services Inspection Station". Isn't an Inspection Station different than a Weigh Station?
For the weigh station on Hwy 17 in Palatka, FL, the only sign I could find scrolling around on Google Street View says "All Trucks Enter Weigh Station": Google Street View - Hwy 17 in Palatka, FL
And for the one on I-10, Google Street View shows an RV driving right past. Although the view of the sign is obscured in this view by that same RV.
Can anyone else point out a weigh station that requires RVs or autos with trailers to stop? I'm not trying to argue; I'm actually looking for a solid example...

Really, I-80 East of Reno has this? I live near there and have towed through that area dozens of times and never stopped or even observed a weigh station requiring this.

Ivylog .... May I ask which states you've been in that make RV's pull into weight stations to check em? An inquiring mind would like to know so I can avoid that state. Have not seen it done in the Western half of the US.
