I know a lot of people that camp have dogs, and like some of us we leave the windows open if we leave our dog in the trailer if we go out for awhile. My dog makes enough noise if anyone came around I'm sure he would scare them off, Australian Shepard. But I found an interesting product on line that has a motion detector and sound a dog barking to wart off unwanted intruders. Might be nice for those that don't travel with pets. I just typed in "Barking Motion Detector" in the search engine.

In all our years of camping, we have never had an "unwanted intruder" and have never felt threatened. (except maybe someone walking through our campsite...).

Barking/yapping dogs...lots of those.

Just who would you qualify as "an unwanted intruder" in a campground? EVERYONE in a campground has a right to walk around at will without being annoyed by barking dogs left unattended OR from a recording.

Just think how happy the neighbors would be if that device went off every time a squirrel or bird came around the unit.

Is there a device that keeps unwanted neighbor's dogs from barking in the campground at all times?

I think this thing would be handy if your were parked out in the desert and had to run into town for supplies. A big ol' dog dish and a hunk of chain to add to the illusion might help. But I don't see it being used in a campground. And there is an adjustment on it so that birds and squirrels won't set it off.

I know you were trying to be helpful.....but barking dogs & campgrounds, two subjects that are often a contradiction.

As you can see by the responses.........

Isnt that the truth....you cant talk about any subject on this Forum without the "anti-dog" crowd getting on the soap box and segway'ing it into any conversation. Your Dog could be de-barked and wearing a diaper, yet the assumption is already preconceived! So rather than "Barking dogs and campgrounds" being the contradiction its more likely "Dogs and campgrounds" to some here. IMHO

Don't get me wrong on this. I do not hate dogs, and have been known to own some. But, have you ever been in a campground where some one next to you left a dog in the camper and he barked the entire time the owners were gone. If not, you should try it sometimes. It really gets to you. I was in a campground at a lake in Utah a few years back. The next door neighbors was one that left a dog alone == for 3 days in succession--. I finally complained to the campground owners and they said they had also notice it and served notice on the dog owners not to leave the dog alone again. The next day, the same thing, and they were asked to leave. It took a visit by the local sheriff to get them gone. It was not the dogs fault, but the owners. That is why I have a particular axe to grind concerning dogs left in campgrounds..
