Isnt that the truth....you cant talk about any subject on this Forum without the "anti-dog" crowd getting on the soap box and segway'ing it into any conversation.
Why call people who dislike constantly barking dogs anti-dog people? Until recently we had three dogs. That doesn't mean we enjoyed the endless barking from other campsites. Some people like heavy metal music and others like elevator music. Neither should force the other to endure what they themselves enjoy.

I love dogs (cats are another story), I have camped with my dog many times. However, there are tons of clueless people who don't realize that their dog starts barking the moment they leave the campsite and doesn't stop until they return. Whenever they are there the dog is silent so they can't understand why everybody hates their mutt. The ones that make the most fuss about people being contrary dog haters are the ones that have the blankest stare when told their dog is a barker.
All I'm saying is if you get complaints about your dog barking while you aren't there get a clue and believe it.
Back to the original poster, in a tight campground, some people will be smart enough to figure out that you have an electronic barker of some sort. We will then think you are rather strange and keep our children (and dogs) far away from you. Just my 2 cents.
We take our dogs with us every time we have camped with no problems. The ones I have issues with are the ones that done leash their dogs and they end up in my camp ground getting into our stuff.
The "Barking Dog Device" that the OP suggested sounds like a useful device.
Owners can set it.....leave for the day and feel that their RV is protected.
Others shouldn't have to listen to it...unless they are running thru the campsite, banging on the RV door/windows.
Hummmmmmmmm maybe I'll get one.....no dog poop, don't have to take it for a walk, doesn't shed. Hey, Maggie pack your bowl & dog biscuits. You're going to the pound!

I love how some people pick and chose something said....DID I NOT SAY, I DONT LIKE A BARKING DOG EITHER! and I have 4....my only point is that many and YES, that includes the ones who are so offended by my point, that many, associate any DOG with Barking and/or pooping on their site, HENCE, NO Dog is the only Good Dog group. Try reading the whole paragraph! Just to be clear, I belong to the anti Dog barking group too but I dont group all dogs automatically into it!!!

To the OP -- your post is fine by me. It is simply a suggestion for those folk who prefer not to have anyone hanging around their campsite. They are well withinn their right to want that. Likewise, others are well within their right to have some peace and quiet from the incessant barking of real dogs.
As for who I call an intruder -- while I agree that anyone has the right to walk anywhere in a campground, when I pay for and occupy a site, that site is my temporary home. As a result I take a very dim view of anyone walking through my site, or the parents of kids who are allowed to do just that without as much as a caution or word of discouragement. So, those I call intruders -- don't care how "nice" they seem to be. If on my property you had better be coming to talk to me or be about my business. Same rules for my bricks/mortar home.

So I guess I should be happy that the camper next to us last weekend would tie their dog out at 5:30 in the morning 2 days in a row. And when it persisted to bark for 45 minutes I should have been happy that they patronize the campground??
Not the dogs fault the clueless owners fault and when brought to their attention the reaction was priceless "if you don't like it you can leave".
But I guess I should have been happy they were there.

You made yourself quite clear by calling those who complain about barking dogs "anti-dog" people. As if we should somehow enjoy the incessant noise and not complain or God forbid... we're anti-dog people. If you didn't mean us, who did you mean? No one grouped all dogs into the nuisance category. Many campers are considerate enough to remain at their campsites so their dogs aren't barking constantly. But I have been were campers are at their sites and their dogs are still barking incessantly. It even goes on into the night. They simply yell over the noise to be heard by their camp mates.
As for campgrounds closing down if dog owners stopped camping... I seriously doubt that. They may get get even more business when people know they and their children wont be stepping in dog feces and there will be no barking dogs to disturb their peace.
