Thinking of changing from Bell Expressvu to Dish Network because the further south you go with Bell the less channels I receive.
Are there any issues with Dish Network as far as reception in Canada? I will almost always be within 200 Miles of the U.S. border.

In order to order Dish Network you will need a US address and phone number. PO Boxes are not accepted as an address. You may need a US Credit Card for billing (there is a debate about Canadian Credit cards being accepted). You can pay a $20.00 annual mobile fee which means you do not need to keep the receiver plugged into a phone line. As soon as you plug it into a Canadian phone line you risk having the service discontinued. It is of course illegal for Canadian residents to do this if they bring the equipment back into Canada. Perfectly legal for you to use it south of the 49th.
Dish Network likely does not care, it is our Canadian government that will hunt you down like a desperate criminal. Not enough Canadian content and you are not paying them the HST they feel they are entitled to when you subscibe to a service in the States.
Is there reception in Canada? Yes as most of us live within a few hundred miles of the border.
Guess my advice would be not to break any laws. If you can get through the hassle of obtaining an address, phone number and making billing arrangements then you will have to make up your own mind.

Yes there are issues, just as you experience with Bell. The farther north you go the less you will be able to receive. The biggest issue is how do you plan on acquiring a Dish account with a Canadian billing address? Dish is limited to US customers only.

I knew this would happen if I asked this question.
My original question has nothing to do with "legality" or my billing address.
I'm only asking about the technical aspects of the signal reception.

When we lived in Bellingham, WA, the reception was good. I would expect that reception anywhere near the border would be fine. I do not have any personal experience with reception further north.
If this graphic is accurate, you should have decent reception within a few hundred miles of the border.

Why not go with Shaw? Use it in Canada & USA.
I don't think it is the government it is a deal between Bell & Dish.
Shaw (Star Choice) support Canadians in Canada, USA and Mexico.
