Hello all. I see lots of information on the Forest River forums about people with TT's changing out their stock radio with the Jensen AWM970. Has anyone with a Roo done this? I would like to know if it fits in the existing space.
thanks in advance.

I have a Jensen AWM970 in my truck camper, and for me it lacks two important features:
1. No weather band radio
2. iPhone is not supported.
It's also a bit big and bulky and big for what it does. I'm currently looking for a replacement.

you need to post your question on the Truck Camper forum or in the Tech Issues forum.
by the way, that model Jensen is the more popular replacement for RVs. not much else out there for RVs except the new Jensen RV model and the Concertone Genesis model, who has a terrible reputation.

I admit I have not researched this much, but I was under the impression that any car stereo should do. Is that not the case? Why are we looking only at Jensen, Concertone, etc.
Would be nice to know what the "existing space" might be. Easy to remove the current radio and measure the opening. The radios you're looking at should have dimensions in their specs.
Car stereos are designed to fit DIN spaces in the dashboard. No way one would fit in my Roo 23SS space, it's entirely different, just from visual inspection.

I would think part of it was the AV section that provides the ability to play DVD movies. I don't think there are many car units that would support that. (though maybe with all the newer SUV's having entertainment centers, that isn't the case?)
I removed the Concertone monitor and replaced it with a Skyworth 21" Digital TV with DVD player included. I mounted it with an articulating arm so it can be positioned better. The only real problems I had with the Concertone was the DVD player was horrible. Locked up at least once during every movie. The radio works fine but we don't really listen to the radio much. We are very happy with the Skyworth.

You are probably right. I have one of our "extra" DVD players from the house in the RV so I won't have that same criterion when it comes to upgrading the radio.
Chuck - True that the space is different. I would think, however, that the present opening could be fabbed to suit. I was thinking more of the connections.
It's on sale these days for under $300 and it has lots of bells & whistle. Yes it's a double-DIN format, but a nice wood finish matching bezel, cut to the correct size would work well.
A friend has one in his MH and it's incredible. The video out connector is still RCA - not HDMI, but it shows a very good quality picture. New models coming out will probably eventually offer HDMI connectors for true HD.
