Can anyone give me advice on applying silicone spray on the rubber around the slides without damaging the paint? I have a spray can but I'm afraid overspray would be a problem.
Silicone is a chemical derived from petroleum and contains distilled petroleum.
The bad news is that slicone can dry out rubber and synthetic rubber gaskets, causing them to age faster and loose the "plasticizers" in the rubber. Also...the silicone can cause the rubber seals adhesive to fail.
Just 303 Aerospace will stop the sun damage, keep the seals safe and supple, stop sun and ozone damage and also will lube the seals. Same stuff will keep tires safe and prevent ozone damage too.

surprisingly enough, I found the 32 ounce 303 at my local West Marine boat store for about $21 and some change. The local rv parts place wanted $27 and some change. It makes my tires look great

+1 on the 303 Aerospace Protectant - have been using it for years on my cars and other various appliances. UV blocking is just one of its many good qualities. Almost anything NON-porous can benefit from it.
Spray on, let soak in or spray on and wipe off. I give the tires a couple of good healthy sprays every month or so and walk away. They look good and the 303 helps them resist UV and dry rot.
303 is one of those products like WD-40 and 3-in-1 oil that everyone should have a supply of.
303 also makes a very good fabric guard product that adds water resistance, UV blocking, and other good stuff for things like outdoor furniture cushions, awnings, umbrellas, et cetera.
(I have no financial interest in this product, I just like helping others see the light!)
