Mobile hotspot seems to be the solution of the future, especially for wired RVers. One device that connects to the Internet then acts as a wireless router for all of your other devices. The first mobile hotspots were stand-alone devices. The new wave is to use your smart phone, which is connected to a network so that you can make phone calls anyway, as a wireless router. Since most wi-fi is faster than 3G and 4G connections, your connection speed for all devices is only limited by your cellular connection.

Hi,
If your Android phone is > ver. 2.2, it's capable of being a mobile hotspot. Look under "Apps" if there is a "3G Mobile hotspot" listed. Not sure though if AT&T allows it's use, if not they probably disabled it. Verizon android phones can use it for an extra fee.

Road-Trekker, AT&T hasn't released 2.2 to the public yet. They are dragging their feet. I didn't have to jailbreak my phone to get internet tethering with PDAnet and that's the main thing I wanted. The second computer just came up and maybe I can get it up and running with the Virtual WiFi or Connectify. I did install Connectify and the two computers could see each other but the 'other' computer only had local access and no internet. I don't know what setting I have wrong. There's not a lot of manual settings as most are automatic.

The WiFi Hotspot feature costs an additional $20/month on Verizon (don't know about AT&T) with a 2G data limit which makes it too expensive for my consideration.

Tinstar - Have you tried looking at the support pages to solve your problem? Here's a link that might help you: Connection Issues

@ strollin; Which support pages? Here on RVnet or support from Samsung/Dell/Microsoft. I have checked the web for help. The two suggestions above should work, in theory, but I've tried both Connectify and setting up a Virtual WiFi network. Either one will allow the computers to 'see' each other and the Host computer has internet access but the other/slave only has local access but not internet access. I'll check out the link you provided.
