hey guys's. really fustrated over this ex warranty of good sam's. Let me state right off that the roadside asst. program has been great. Now for my problem, went cross counrty from ny to arz. about 200 miles from my arrival point my brake system would not build air pressure, this was a friday afternoon so GS sends a tech he could not get air so we stayovernight on the road and the next day we call GS and luckly talk to a tech by the name of Carlos Reyes he was great and set up to have the coach towed to Rocky Mt cummings in avondale ariz. The folks there were great they inspected the air system and determined the air dryer was blocked so they said it was not servicable and had to order one on Mon. from Vagas it would be an additional 175 to overnight it so order it. Now comes the good news GS says that the dryer is not covered so after a heated exchange i say alright i didn't read the fine print so what about trip interupution? Well you guessed it, because the coach was not in an acccident and undrivable we were not covered for that either. SO you tell the wife and two yorkies that we have a 1500.00 policy with good sam But nothing is covered. PLEASE has anyone else had this happen and what can be done? Cost us 800.00 dollars out of our pocket to fend for ourselfs until the coach was fixed and another 1000,00 for the repair i think i'am missing something here HELP !!!!!!

It's an insurance companies job to take as much from you and I as they can, and deliver as little or nothing as they can.
Nothing new here, just an expensive lesson that everyone reading this just got for free.

next time someone ask you to buy extended warranty for anything you can tell them stick it where the sun don't shine. They are worthless

It sounds like you got the message you were to put the $1500 in your repairs account and not give it away to an insurance company. Tell others to Goggle before they buy or read RV.net.
Hey it was just $1500. Wish I had never miss spent more than that myself.

My Story
Read my story and I agree with you. One of the operative rules is "If a covered part damages an uncovered part the uncovered part is not covered. If an uncovered part damages a covered part then neither part is covered.

Well Folks,
This is all good info. We just picked up an '04 Itasca, Full body paint D/P with the 330 CAT in her. It's got 41K on the clock. Now, it seems to be in perfect shape and we just drove her from Sparks NV to San Diego to bring her home. No problems. But, you all know as much as I do, that there's a few thousand things that can go wrong at any given time so, I've been thinking about an "extended warranty". Either from Good Sam or ? But, reading this, I'll have to reconsider my next move.
I've read tons of stuff in RV magazines in the trouble section about how hard it is for many people to collect warranty after a repair, even though they're supposedly completely covered. Nine times out of ten, when the magazine writes the company a letter, they then respond and say the check's on the way to the customer. Why, does it take something like that to make a company respond when they should have in the first place? Anyway, it's good info here. Thanks

Here's what they do. They get vehicle experts to help them write these contracts, and they take YEARS doing it. Since most people DO NOT read any print let alone the fine print it doesn't matter because you wouldn't understand it any way - that's the point.
They know that they put in "covered" parts behind "uncovered parts" so they will never have to repair the covered part.
Insurance companies have the best of both worlds. They make 100% profit from the people that never have a problem, and they make 100% profit from the people they say "sorry that s not covered"
How do I get a business like that?

A couple of months ago Good Sam paid for a new fuel pump, transient suppressor, injection control valve, distributor, and engine ECM computer.........Total Bill was just under 10 THOUSAND bucks and I paid 250 dollars deductible.......
Last month they paid me $860.00 for a new living room air conditioner.....I picked up the new unit myself and had a tech install it........It cost me nothing but gas money to go 50 miles to a warehouse to get the new machine and bring it home......
Today I'm getting a new tire and they are paying me 370.00 plus labor to mount it and balance it........
I've had the policy for three months @ $165.00 a month.......
You do the math...........I think I'm ahead of the game.........10 YEARS AHEAD !!
My coach is now 11 years old and I can keep it until the bus turns 20 years old.....The policy has paid for itself in a matter of three months......
I need a rear HWH leveler jack repaired and I'll hit them up next month with that...........
EVERYTHING depends on the repair facility's ability to talk to the Good Sam claim people and give them the right info to get a claim paid........
When I had the fuel problem fixed I had the bus towed 40 miles to a Cummins dealer in Ocala, Florida and GEICO paid the bill.......
I can drop the Good Sam warranty insurance whenever I want, but for now I'm keeping it......

The dealer I bought my used RV wanted me to buy a $5000 extended warranty (NO!!) and Good Sam wanted $1100. I just said NO and stuck the money in the bank. Now it's there if I need it and not lining someone else's pocket.
