Anyone ever stay there? I am considering it for a night while on the move.

Thanks.

Not familiar with that road name -- where is it? Co-ordinates?

Never mind -- I remember. Been there a few times, just stopping overnight on the way home. It's OK - but nothing special. Gets very crowded in the summer.

It's a nice stop. Once you come to the entrance booth, if you go immediately to the left to the large flat area you will avoid the "beach" crowds in the area a little further up but you'll still have a wonderful view! There's a dump station in the first area also.

I saw on a previous post you had mentioned using this facility. Two of us will be passing through the area, a motor home and a fifth wheel pulling a boat. Is this a suitable spot to just pull into for a nights sleep? Is there a concern with getting stuck in sand or is it more gravel? We will be there on June 7th which is a Thursday evening. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

Our friends just stopped here on their way north. They've got a 42-foot motorhome and very almost got stuck in the sand. They told us there are firmer spots farther away from the beach, so just be aware when you go park. I haven't been here myself so can't comment more, but hope that was helpful.

There is an EXCELLENT RV Park at Wahweap. Nice full service spaces, easy in easy out. And beautiful views of the lake.

Lone Rock is dry camping, far from being in the boonies.

If you not familiar with the area I would not pull in. There are alot of spots with soft sand and even 4WD can be a challenge. As mentioned stay at the RV park or you can stay up top at Lone Rock in a area with a view and no sand. $10 to camp per night at Lone Rock. Not sure about Wahweap RV cmpground fee.

BTW, you say pass thru Lake Powell area with a boat? There is no lake better than Lake Powell, its usually the destination when you have a boat. If you do take a boat on Powell I would call and get information on mussels restrictions now or your boat may not be allowed on the lake.

Thanks for the responses. When I said passing through, I am headed to Oregon for 3 months of fishing, I am aware of the restrictions and rules regarding mussels.
My thoughts were staying up on the high ground where there is a $10 fee. No desire to get down in the sand!

Just got back from there this pastweekend. The place was pretty full and the weather was hot. If you have not gotten there yet I would suggest boondocking 3 miles east of Jacob Lake AZ. It high elevation and a lot cooler temps. Distance should not be much different. You may need a mussel inspection if you stay at the Glen Canyon Rec area depending on where you boat has been and when. Even if you don't take it on the lake you will have to go thru the entrance and probably pay a boat fee as well. That is unless the park ranger worksd with you.
