My awning had been stuck in the closed position for a long time (retract/extend lever wouldn't budge), but a recent trip to the desert made me break out the hammer and vice grips to get it extended. Once it came down, I knew it probably wasn't going to go back in without a fight.
Sunday morning came, and I got it halfway retracted, then it froze. No amount of pushing/pulling/beating from 3 people could get it to retract, so out came the Makita and razor, and off went the whole awning. The top track is still on the trailer, but the rest is sitting in a pile.
So now I need a new/used awning for a 27' trailer.

A search on Ebay and Craigslist over several months might lead to a used awning that is also the proper length. One of the problems is the lengths all vary. Meaure your awing from one arm to the other to figure out the size you need.
I remember being at Quartzsite a couple of years ago and seeing a 40 foot van trailer full of awnings stacked to the roof. I asked the dealer about getting one of the awnings in the trailer as I thought they were new. He said they were the ones they replaced and they were all going to the dump.
This will probably be pretty close to the size you need. Probably a little smaller so you either need to shorten on one side or it wont work. Check Ebay for more ideas.
If you saved the tube and arms, you could just replace the springs and canvas. I would have done this at home before going on a trip and decided to go Hulk Hogan on my awning as if was a $4 tank top.
Keith, thank you for the info.. I'll check both websites for possible replacements.
Travelin, yes I have the tube and arms, but am weighing whether replacing the whole unit would be easier than trying to piece togther the old unit. And Hulk Hogan'ing it would have been more like tying a rope from the awning to my buddies rhino, and saying "pin it and turn around in about 300 feet". Standing hungover in the hot windy dusty desert, i'd say that using a razor and ratchet was almost surgical, compared to what I felt like doing. lol.
I have to replace our 25' awning as the PO left it out in a wind storm by accident. They were the cheapest I found, even the Domestic 9000 series at 25' was $1550 complete w/ shipping.
check out waltsrvsurplus.com , they have all kinds of great parts, great prices, not new, either surplus, or salvaged parts, and yes, they've got awnings! and they're located in rialto. totally worth the drive from your place!! good luck!
