We just returned from there. Enjoyed Custer's Gulch RV Park. Centrally located, clean, pet friendly, level & wide sites. Would recommend it to anyone.

We stayed at Crazy Horse RV Park on the top level. Do not miss going to see Crazy Horse, and take the little bus trip up to the foot of the mountain. Actually, we enjoyed Crazy Horse more than Mt.Rushmore. There did seem to be a "spirit of Crazy Horse there". Also, don't miss the night shows.

Mt Rushmore KOA in Hill City, SD is just down the same hwy as Mt. Rushmore and was great. We stayed there the whole week before Sturgis last year and to me there wasn't too many bikes. They have a great pool/playground area for the kids too. My brother-in-law is going there next week.

I also stayed at Crooked Creek campground in July 1-8, 2010. Nice campground friendly staff. They were very helpful, guiding you to your site, helping to unload your towed vehicle, storing my tow dolly.

Another vote for Rafter J Bar campground. It is large and very close to both Mt. Rushmore & Crazy Horse. Each of these monuments also have a laser light show at night that is very nice.

Our club had a rally a few years ago at a nice small rv park owned by a nice young couple It was called Crooked River or Crooked Creek and was located in Hill City. Close to attractions. Nothing fancy but full hookups and reasonable.

X 2, even called Thr Mangy Moose and had pizza delivered. Took the DGKs over to the pool, very small but a pretty CG. Not as nice as Rafter J, but I would stay there again.

Any Military or DOD connections. The AFB in Rapid City has a very nice RV park. Close to all the sites.

Spent a few weeks at the rafter-J-bar. A great place.
We went to Mt Rushmore early in our stay. The parking fee is
good for a year and the snack bar there has a passable breakfast so on a number of days we made the short trip to Mt Rushmore to eat and take in the view before we headed anywhere else.

Been there twice stayed at KOA's both times! First time the KOA in Deadwood, S.D. the second time the KOA in Rapid City, S.D. They were a little more spendy then the other Campgrounds, but I like the swimming pool and hot tub and how close they are to both cities.

Stayed at Custer Mountain Cabins & RV park twice. As a matter of fact if you pull up their site and go to "RV Sites" you will see our Safari DP. Great place.
