I have a Blue Ox Aventa 2 towbar. One leg will no longer latch in the closed or stored position. I am looking at the parts blow up and am not sure which part to order. Any input greatly appreciated.

You may not need any parts. Take it apart do a good cleaning, lubrication, and reassemble.

When ours got to the point of not locking in, I call the company and they sent out a repair kit with instructions at no cost.

Have you called blue ox yet? I had some play in my tow bar and they just had me send it to them and they rebuilt the entire towbar for free (I just paid shipping there). I do believe mine was about 18 months old so it may of been warranty still too.

Jim,
Are you sure it isn't locking? Have you checked it when it isn't attached to the toad?

Hey Guys
Thanks for the input. After some poking around on the net and the bar. I found there is a grommet that is ripped. It is not easily identified on the link I posted. Also not easy to remove from bar! I am waaaaaay out of warranty. I will start with a call to Blue OX and go from there.

I WILL buy Blue Ox whenever I can. There support is the best I have ever encountered. For example, I bought a piece from a dealer for my tow bar. Blue Ox said that dealer should not have sold me that part. Blue Ox sent me, at no cost to me, a new $200 part to replace the wrong $50 part. Incredible. They will get my business forever.

I just called Blue Ox about the ends of the tow bar arms where it attaches to the toad bracket because the pin holes seems to be enlarging somewhat. I was asking about replacements for that end of the arms. The suggestion from them was to buy a new tow bar, some help, huh.

I'm baaaaack!

Blue Ox sent me two replacement grommets for free. No instructions but I was able to replace the bad one. Not easy but doable.

Anyway the leg still does not lock in stored position, much better than it was but still pulls out too easy. I cleaned and lubricated everything and the only other thing I can see that can be a problem is part # 21 the leg stop.

Any input greatly appreciated. JIm 0311
