As the Norcold referigerators age many are going bad. If everybody would reply the usage that their frig has had and if they have problems or not we could learn by seeing a trend.
Please reply
A. If you leave your frig on all the time fulltime or while stored and have had problems.
B. If you turn it on just occasional while camping and had problems.
C. On or off and had no problems.
Will be interesting if we get enough replies to see a trend with usage.
Thanks

I have owned 3(three) norcold 1200 and have never had any problems with any of them with the exception of bad thermisters. But who would ever leave their fridge run while in storage. That would be goofy for sure
1997 2002 2008 all of them are used full time from Oct through april and then all sit for the summer

Several norcolds bit the dust last winter ar our rv park. 2 just needed to be turned off for 3 days and then worked ok after that. All had the recall done before the problem. the MH behind us had fire in theback of the norcold. we were lucky it didn't take off and burn the both of us up or away or down or something like any of them.

Our Norcold 1200 was turned on July 25 2003 and ran continuously till Sept 2009 when I replaced the cooling unit after the cooling unit failed. We replaced with an Amish cooling unit. I did replace the heating elements when we replaced the cooling unit but the old heating elements were still useable.
We are all electric so our Norcold has only been operated with Electric... Either shore power, Generator power or power via the inverter. In March 2011 the solenoid that controls the water to the ice maker failed. An easy fix...

Norcold 1200, OEM in used coach purchased two years ago. Worked fine at purchase.
Turn it on every April, essential not turned off until October as we keep it in a member-owned campground. Runs 90% of the time on 110v shore power, some propane when traveling/dry camping.
Still working fine today... no issues at all.

Norcold 1200 was turned on Jan. 14, 2004.
Ran continuous until mid Aug. 2010.
Approximately 80% electric, 20% gas.
Service determined the cooling unit was bad.
A little over 6 and 1/2 years.
Replaced with a new Norcold cooling unit Aug 22, 2010.
Recall was done on Dec. 22, 2010.

I would have to answer "C" noting a couple of exceptions. We've had our unit for 11 years, and during that time I've replaced the two fans on the back twice, no big problem. Last October I replaced the thermistor on the inside cooling fins.
We've had the (2) recall actions performed on our 1200, and that's it. Hopefully it will continue function properly during the coming years.

Our first Norcold was purchased in 1996 and had to be replaced in 2000 in Farmington, NM. It was turned on and never turned off. Our second one is the 812 series and was bought in Jan. o3 used and is still operating properly, never turned off. It has some mildew discoloration on the seal; but works beautifully. (just need to sell the camper it is in). We now also have a 2004 model 1201LRIM and it has been a PIA since day one. Currently awaiting answers from service rep and Norcold as to what to do now. Freezer never gets cold enough.

We have used our 1200 for 6 months each winter running 99% of the time on propane since the winter of 04. Had both recalls, one during the winter of 09/10 and the last one done Feb of 2011. Never any issues except for cleaning the flue a couple of times.
