Hi Danoren, great idea. I noticed the edges of your carpet are a little frayed... since that is probably plastic carpeting, you can melt the edges a little with a propane torch and that should cure the fraying (I'd remove them from the step before doing that).
I made these from some indoor/outdoor carpet, they've been on for a year and look new. I had some narrow aluminum strap from some other project. Used some self drilling metal screws to attach them. If I need to replace it, just uncrew the straps, cut some new carpet, re-screw. Ya Iknow, one of the steps has the pattern different. The piece I bought was only big enough to cut that way. It seems like everyone that see's them out camping notices.
