Help! My Onan 5500 (gas) won't start. With a shot of starting fluid, used very sparingly, it runs for just a second.
Loosened the carb bowl drain and nothing comes out. I suspect the float needle is stuck.
Any quick fixes? Sure hate to have to pull it out.
It ran 2 months ago.

Pull the fuel supply line first and make sure you have fuel to the carb. If you do, you're gonna have to pull it.

If you have checked all the normal engine problems
fuel to carb
spark at plugs
fuel not stale and carb not dirty
then check for voltage at the output of the gen and oil pressure sender(under oil filter)
many of the emerald and marquis gens need oil press and gen output to run

3/4 tank of fuel. Could air possibly unstick the needle?
The only problem I see is the carb bowl is dry.
Once I figure out how to remove the air cleaner box I can get to it.

Sounds like what mine did last summer. The electric fuel pump for the generator was bad. After installing a new one it starts and runs like a dream.

I have an Onan 5500 in a 99 MH.It has an electric fuel pump.A few years ago it wouldn't start.Found a broken wire to the fuel pump.spliced it back together,no problems since.
