I am prob being too critical but having never owned or listened to a honda eu2000, wanted to ask. I cleaned the carb and it seems to run verywell, ran for 4 hrs yesterday. The only thing i'm not sure about, when no eco mode, the idle isn't perfectly smooth, seems to fluxuate very subtly up and down, again, very subtle but a close ear can detect. Is this normal or do i need further carb cleaning? I followed basic cleaning on the sticky in this forum

I always run mine in echo mode - tells me when it is pulling a load... Never really noticed a "bumpy" idle - mine seems smooth to me - nothing definately stands out... The only time mine gets upset is when I forget to open the gas cap run value - then it jumps up and down and dies on me gasping for air...

Ok. thx, i'll see if i get a couple of others but just pulled the carb again for a final flush and it was clean. It runs smooth, just not totally steady so i hear subtle rpm's moving up maybe 100 up and down, which is why i call it subtle but if you pay attention, you can hear it.

the idle jet on the hondas is EXTREMELY small, it's very possible it is slightly clogged and they are so small it's hard to find a small enough wire to clean them with and at least on mine it is plastic. I've had mine plug enough to have a very rough idle. Solution was to to use a double dose of Seafoam and run it with eco mode off for an hour or so. You might try that and see if it helps.

Are you sure you replaced the gasket between the carb and air filter. Don't ask me how I know this can be a maddening problem.

didn't replace any gaskets at all, got the impression they were all reusable.

is the idle jet different than the slender one inch stem shown in the picture with tiny holes? I unscrewed the small brass nut and the jet w/ the tiny holes slipped out. I worked pretty hard to clean it but i suppose the tiny holes could not be perfect.

I believe if you start running SeaFoam Gas Additive you won't have any future problems...and you will not need to pull the carb. I add the S/F to all the gas I use for mowers, outboards and generators - never have a problem. Safe travels.

i'm not usually a fan of aftermarket products like seafoam b/c they seem to do very little except make the manufacturer money. however, the seafoam seems to have a following. i just bought a bottle of stabil for 10 dollars but maybe i'll swap it out and try the sf. I ran the eu2000 today and with a med load, the motor runs very smooth but with no to little load, slight bump

Other than seafoam I'm not much of a fan of these products either.

My experience is that stabil doesn't work all that well. But I've had Seafoam clear up several carb problems, and since I started using it in all my power equipment several years ago I haven't had any running problems since.

your symptoms are similiar to times before seafoam use when I had a partially clogged idle jet. A strong dose of seafoam and running at full throttle (eco off) for 1/2 hour or so cleaned it up.

that said, can't see any use for seafoam in my vehicles, only in engines that may sit around for weeks or more between uses.
