The center console in our RV was just silly. A single cup holder that was sized to not fit anything securely. And a storage area that was just a hole that went straight to the bottom of the console. Anything put in there, just forget it ever existed. Its gone. Forever.

Anyway, I decided to make a console that actually met our needs. It has two large cutouts for coffee mugs (with handles), and two cutouts for soda cans or bottles, with enough room for foam covers. The bottom of the cutouts have large velcro pads (the furry part, not the hook part) so the cans/cups don't rattle on the wood. The flip-up table is for a laptop, or anything else the DW needs to put there while on the road. Underneath the drink holder is a storage box, with the option of putting in a shelf or two. The whole thing was made from scrap oak flooring I had lying around. All the parts are glued together with Gorilla glue planed to get rid of the grooves, sanded smooth, and the whole thing is put together with sheetrock screws.

Boy you got that right. I've yet to find a cup or glass that fits in those holes! I ended up taking out the plastic liner to fit my coffee cup in it. But you can only do this on the driver side. When you take the liner out of the passenger side it leaves a gapping hole to nowhere!

Great Mod. Soooo, when are you going to start marketing these?

Hi All.

Very well done. Nice & clean looking also. Should be very funcional for you, and you should get a lot of use out of it. It works good for your appliaction. But I like the Wood Cup Holder/Storage on our Motorhomes Engine Dog-House Cover much better. Mostly for the only reasons that I wouldn't have any useage for all the extras that you built into yours. A lot of it, is becasue yours is a Class C and ours is a Class A Motorhome. Not that a Class A is better, by any means. It just wouldn't serve our needs, as it does yours. But yours still is a great job and I can see you put a lot of thought into yours. You should be Proud of yours. You got yourself a "Winner" Good Luck. Happy Travels. Dan & Jill

Just had to resurrect this thread because I have the identical silly center console. I'm glad to see that it can be removed and now you've inspired me to create a more useful design. I will add a glove box to the design simply because state law requires us to keep our registration and insurance there.

Great job!
