Congratulations, Sue to you and your hubby. What a fabulous view. It may be a fixer upper, but the photos make it look like you could move right in. WE'll be anxious to read your progress as you move on this summer.

A taste of life on the rustic side ... 4 days ago I noticed email not arriving. Checked and double checked the systems on my end, disconnected and reconnected everything. Finally phoned Northwestel. The phone support tech ran through all the same things I had just done. No change. So a service tech appt was scheduled for the next day.
Poor fellow was here three hours, phoning HQ in Yellowknife, driving out and changing lines and cards, then trying again. Yellowknife showed an IP address being issued to this modem BUT on this end no IP address was being discovered.
A quirk that need more work, the tech said before he left.
Well, it turned out to be a bigger issue with the network and infrastructure that affected numerous customers and which finally got fixed today.
And HERE I am once again! No longer IP-less in cyberspace!
Sheesh ... THAT was traumatic!

The plan this year is to head out in mid-September. Then return next spring in May, maybe April. Then might be full-time here after that. Don't know yet. Don't know much of anything yet. One day at a time now ... until we get some time in and figure life out again!
Do check in with us ... plans are evolving and we may be here the winter. Another adventure ... winter in a summer cabin!

I agree that the Tombstone campground and area are spectacular. There are numerous day and longer hikes in the Tombstone area as well. Some ranger programs too. We plan to stop in this year on our way by.
Further north on the Dempster ... I can't say we saw anything overly spectacular, other then the view from the Yukon/NWT border rest area. The view across the tundra is inspiring.
At Inuvik, the plane ride to Tuktoyaktuk is a favorite, to dip your toe in the Arctic Ocean. There are also some cultural activities that are worthy of a try.

This is one of our neighbours. We're encouraging it (he? she?) to move on. Kodi & Ursa (our dogs) just don't get along with it!

This neighbour is kind of cute, but it doesn't seem to appreciate Kodi & Ursa either.

Monday we drove to Kluane Lake, just for something to do. Beautiful day.
These pictures taken from the south side, looking west & north respectively.

This is Sheep Mountain:

Also took some additional pictures at Silver City historical site. Will post those soon ...

We're fans of Kentucky-Alleyne Provincial Park. The lakes are small, but nice. Fishing is good, if you are lucky. See my page at http://suethomas.ca/20100930_KentuckyLk.html
There are also numerous recreation sites along the Coquihalla Connector corridor. Popular area too.
There are also some lovely recreation sites between Princeton & Merritt. We drove through last year to check them out. Lots of variety. Lots of people fishing.
Use the interactive map at http://apps.gov.bc.ca/pub/recst/ to see locations, activities available, and directions. Note, if that website says it is 4x4 accessible only, or that it is not suited for RVs, believe it. We have found their info accurate enough to not second guess it.

Sue.t.,
Just killing time while supposed to be working in Ewe-Stun (Texas) and came across this thread.
All of the pictures you posted of your new place are great (as always), but that first one you put up of the view makes the snap of frost and feel of crisp clean Northern air almost tangible. Awesome picture. Makes me homesick, even though only away for a week.

When we attended the dinner show in Beaver Creek a few years ago, one of the fun songs they did was called "Coffee Time in Beaver Creek." One portion says:
"If you want to find out
what we're all about,
just come and
introduce yourself
at coffee time."
It sounds as if it might be that time. Congratulations!
