I used the 3M kit as described in the first post and was amazed at the difference it made in my headlamps, but as later mentioned, they yellowed back up in just a few weeks.

Tried to refinish GF's headlight lens.

I gave up; then like others I bought replacements off e-bay after pricing them at local car repair stores autozone, napa ect.

new lens look great it's been 3 years and still clear.

the two replacement housings cost a little over $50.

I just bought a new pair of headlights for my Son-In-Laws old 99 Suburban online for $59.00 for the pair delivered. They even came with 4 new bulbs! We tried polishing his old ones and it didn't last very long...

A SIX-MONTH FOLLOW UP!

It's now been six-months since I used the 3M Headlight Lens Restoration System on both my headlamps. After concerns raised about the possibility of UV damage due to the loss of the original protective coating, I began treating my lenses with the Blue Magic Headlight Lens Sealer. It's fairly inexpensive, and the sealer contains a UV inhibitor. There were no specific printed instructions as to the frequency of use, so I've only applied it every two months, or a total of 3 times so far.

My opinion of the current condition of both headlamps is that they look virtually unchanged from when they were restored. The reflections make it a little difficult to see clearly from the photo. Both headlamp surfaces still remain smooth, though there is some scattered crystalline type damage on the inner lens surface, which I believe is due to heat damage over time. They were there even after restoring the headlamps, not to mention that the headlamps are now over ten years old.

The combination of the 3M kit and Blue Magic Sealer appears to have worked in my case.

I used regular car wax that also removed oxidation worked very well. I used Nu Finish on my old Escort headlight lenses and it cleaned it up just fine. No special kit needed.

I think it depends on the degree of deterioration of the lenses.

On my daughter's car, the lenses appear to have tiny hairline cracks everywhere even after sanding, polishing, etc. with a few different products. The hazing was removed, but the lenses are still not close to clear.

I'm going to get replacements for it. The old ones seem beyond repair.

Most any process will work, from toothpaste to rubbing compound. But the fly in the ointment is that once done, there is no longer a protective surface and they will yellow in just a few weeks later. Waxing won't help. I'm tempted to give them a coat of clear spray paint to see how that works.

I did mine with the wet or dry paper and polishing compound and that was 3 years ago. Still looking like new, no yellowing.

Our vans lights were like dim flashlights. We tried things you bought over the counter but they were to far gone for me. I took it to the WalMart auto center and for $40 they look like new. I'm telling you we use to turn on our high beams before the restoration and no one ever noticed and thought we had a bad battery.

I took my 1995 Lincoln to Walmart and $20.00 and 30 minutes later they looked like new. No muss, no fuss.
