I really like the three sets of BFG A/T's I've had on two former trucks and my current dually. The very heavy dually does wear them a bit quicker than the sets on the old 1/2 chevy and 4runner did.

Last fall I went with Yokohama Geolanders ATs for the Durango (ski rig) and they are WAY better than the Wrangers. Did not know how bad the wranglers where until I got the Geolanders. We don't tow with the Durango so I can't report towing performance.

While I can't claim these tires are the best, they have served me well. 67K miles on the 1st set, over 80K on the 2nd set, ready to buy the 3rd set.

I've used several brands in recent years, all for towing lots of miles and the smoothest, quietest (not the least expensive ) have been Cooper Discoverer. My new F150 had BFG Rugged Trail TA Load Range E as OEM on it and so far they've been pretty nice also. My previous truck had General Americana Load Range D on it and they were terrible.

Good luck / Skip

Good Year Unisteel G647 E rated 10ply. Sorry, I misread your e-mail, I thought you were buying tires for a trailer.

What size tire?

Your are asking out of context, as it is like asking which grade 8
bolt is best to replace your grade 5 bolts

Also, which F150? The regular one with 'P' class tires, or the HD version with
'LT' class tires?

If the regular one, then if you go to the next higher class tires with an 'E'
load range, make sure your wheels is rated for 80PSI and the weight carry capacity
of that 'LT' load Range E

Then what year, as some of the newer ones has 17"-18"-20" dia wheels
and low profile tires. Again what size tires?

Same here. If placing an order over the phone or in person, make sure you specify load range Echo because they are also available in load range Delta

One brand to stay away from: Nexen Roadians. Nexen is trying hard to be a player in the US tire market. I bought a set for my F250 work truck last year from my favorite Ford dealer. Less than 17K on them and they were completely worn out. No unusual wear; just wore slap out. Dealer felt bad, they gave me a great deal on some Uniroyals with an actual mileage warranty.

That reminds me of a good point. Many E rated tires come with no mileage warranty. Check into that if it means anything to you. I found out the hard way.

E's on a F150 truck ?? You can over tire a truck especially a half ton truck with a smallblock engine. The F150 (non HD) axle is only rated for around 1900 lb per tire.

The C tire or even a D tire at most, would be a better match from a performance side. Are your wheels rated for the higher pressures (60-80 psi) which is the advantage of the E tire.
I put a set of Bridgestone AT Revo 2 load range C on the wifes 1500 crew cab chevy 4x4 with the 5.3 and 3.73 axle. At 12k miles their still looking great. They worked very good, for a AT tire, in deep snow/muddy county roads/ice/dry and wet pavement.
