FYI , Kamloops Walmart has JUST put up Signs " No Rv Parking " so now you won't have to worry about the exchange rate they apply to US$
transactions.

Considering the whuppin that Canadians have taken on the exchange rate for the past twenty years,
most of us have trouble shedding a tear for someone who thinks they got beat out of a nickle!

Many Walmarts have signs "no overnight parking".
It's a requirement in some towns to put up these signs but hardly any of them enforce it.

I was going to comment again on the issue of exchange rates and camping in parking lots, however I started thinking we ( including me) are losing the idea behind this whole message board.
Blasting our neighbors to the south because they don’t know our culture is not what this site is about. I also have traveled around the world including south of 49, ( and have a ton of relatives in AZ and Org) and try and do as much research on where we will be going before hand, but there are still lots of things I don’t know and have to ask a local.
I also have been guilty of heated / bad comments to posters on here which is wrong, and it doesn’t help people visiting our country have a experience to remember. I thought we were here to help people and send them in the right direction, not blast them. However I will say they way this thread was titled did get people in the defensive mode right from the get go, so people should remember when they start a thread is how they title it, because that is the first thing that will draw people in.
NOTE: I was the first person to comment on this thread and I should have said to the poster” from now on try going to a bank which will most likely give you the best exchange rate”, but I didn’t, and I am sorry for that.

I totally agree that tourists who come to Canada and insist on using their own currency are at least showing bad manners & should be critisized. Can you imagine French tourists getting off a cruise ship in New York City & trying to pay for their cab fares with Euros?
However this is NOT the case with the OP as he/she said that
"We usually use cash rather than credit cards and get Canadian money from an ATM shortly after crossing the border. This time since we had a large amount of US money we're been using that".
I think that the problem this time is that with the US dollar being so low, and below the value of ours, the exchange rate is more noticible. Shops in Canada have always given 'bad' rates to cover the extra costs in accomodating those many US tourists that would never even think of exchanging their funds.
I really don't think that if a Canadian warned others about a particulary low rate in a US store, they would be critisized as much.
I don't believe in astrology. I am a Gemini and
we're very skeptical.

Same here, we travelled all over Europe and North America and used three credit cards.
Also used cash machines in Europe. There's no need to travel with large amount of cash.

The exchange rate in Canada. How about the exchange rate in Alaska LOL!!! Although the camp grounds for the most part were the same or better rate than the lower 48. Lets call the FBI or CIA and investigate this gouging, OH wait this is another country they rule, darn again!!! LOL We find over the long term things balance except in small out of the way places where they can be cheaper or higher depending on transportation costs.

There might be something wrong with the educational system south of the border.
One guy once asked me:" Who is the Canadian President.....and what Canadian State do you live in.....what's the name of your governor?"
Were #15th in the world so I would say your correct. Most Canadians know US holidays ask an American what July 1st is.
