Just ordered a Jayco Octane 29 A from the factory today. The production run begins Monday and I was told to expect the unit in about 5 weeks. Does anyone here have experience with this unit? I know in all forums there are usually more negative posts than positive. I would appreciate any info from anyone who has experience with this unit.
Thanks in advance,

Congratulations!
If you didn't already get the 15K roof air option, you might consider it. The insulation is a basic R-7, and having a bigger A/C will keep you cooler in warm weather. Or even add a 2nd Roof A/C later.
Jayco uses a substantial 12" Structual Steel "I" Beam frame made and engineered to Jayco's specifications by Leland Engineering, and welded by real certified AWS welders.
The Octanes do away with slideouts, for a more solid structure and some weight savings, yet the floor plans give you plenty of room. And the wood framed/aluminum skin walls are strong yet light weight...giving you a great 4300 lb load carrying capacity, and the huge fresh water tanks holds 102 gallons.
To make your life easier, it comes with Dexter® Nev-R-Adjust™ brakes, E-Z Lube® axles, Torq-N-Go wheel nuts, and MOR/ryde® CRE 3000™ rubber axle equalizers that make it ride sooooo nice! And it comes with a Generator prep package with 21-gal. fuel tank.
And the 2 year warranty is just icing on the cake!
We've had a grand total of 7 new Jayco's so far, not a lemon in the bunch, loved them all. Terrific company with great ethics and the best customer service, not a corporate conglomerate but it is still Family owned. Be aware that Jayco Owners tend to be a bit...shall we say...fanatic about their rigs...in a good way!
My posts shouldn't be taken for factual data. They are purely fictional, for entertainment purposes and should not be constituted as actually related to scientific, technical, engineering, legal, spiritual or practical advice. Amen.

FSD,
Thanks for the very positive response!!! So glad you've been happy with your Jaycos. Very good to hear. I did opt for the 15k a/c, generator, and super U dinette. We've got several beach trips planned later this year plus some dry camping. The wife, 3 dogs and I can't wait!
ps. I hope to very soon share your the fanaticism!

Ditto what fordsooperdooty said. I love our 2010 T24Z Octane and it is one quality TH. We have already spent a total of 48 nights in it since we purchased it in August of 2010!
What's work? Oh, playing in the sand in the Southwest!
You can find us hanging in our Jayco T 24 ZX or out riding.

I have a 2009 Octane ZX T26Y and have been very happy with it, the only thing they could have paid a little more attention to is the finish work on the interior cabinets but they are still alot better than many of the other trailers I looked at. Good luck with it, I think You'll love it.

Thanks for the response! I'm surprised to hear that. I was told by my dealer that Jayco uses mainly Omish workers for the finish work. (wood cabinets and stuff) Could you please give me an example so I'll be sure to carefully inspect mine when it arrives next month?
I appreciate your info!

Amish workers ehh?? Nice tag line but the reality is they are all rushing to make a lofty daily quota, be damned what religion they are.

The quality of the doors seems great but they were pretty sloppy with the wood filler on some gaps and nail holes in the cabinets, also there were two doors that they missed on their lining up with the latch sriker and they just moved the plate without fixing the old holes. All in all they look nice unless you look at them close when the lights hit them right. One thing you may want to check for is were the power cord comes in from the outside, mine had a big opening inside where the cord comes in that some mice got thru into the camper the first winter, I fixed it with some metal screen and spray foam, I also make sure to wrap something around the cord where it comes thru the plastic door on the outside to keep them from getting in at all.
Other than that I'm going on three years and I'm very happy with it.

mwebber,
Thanks for the spelling correction! Amish is what I meant! I understand what you are saying with the daily quota. Makes sense.
mjayco,
That is exactly the sort of stuff I need to know about and be on the lookout for. I'll be sure to inspect that carefully. I really appreciate your time and advice! I really can't wait for it to get here. Not sleeping too good at night thinking about it. Dealer said middle of August. I've got a beach trip August 12th. Regrettably I bet I'll be camping in my old one but fingers crossed....
